Lately, when make a reservation for a park we haven't been to, I
Google Earth the address. You can view the loops pretty well and see how far you are from things, what the shade/sun is like, how log the sites are, how close you are to your neighbor etc. I was wondering if anyone else does this. It has helped me to make a decision on my sites and campground. You can tell so much from seeing it above as, we all know brochures and websites can be deceiving.

LOVE GOOGLE EARTH!!!
I can spend HOURS on that program. (especially if you set the preferences to find all the YOUTUBE submissions people put up)
I've been planning a trip back to Montana for sometime next year so I am using it to find any places of interest and campsites. I do like the terrain feature the most as it gives me an 3-D view of any mountainous areas or any hills that I may have to travel up and then look for any routes around them (don't like to put a lot of strain on the transmission if I don't have to).
Can't imagine ever going back to using Google maps.

Like Rob said it's not real time. We had some folks complaining that they saw an open site but the campground people wouldn't let them have it...LOL
The picture of my house just got a new one last fall after 5 years.

All the time. Lets you know how close highways are. If it's rural or developed.
