I'm installing the plug receptacle in the bed of my truck. On my old truck, it was near the tailgate. I was thinking of installing it on the side of the wheel well, I have a very long cable, and figured it could come down, go under the hitch, and to the side. This way it stays away from anything in the rear of the bed. Good Idea? Bad Idea?
Where do you all have yours?

I prefer it in the left rear bed post, which is where I put it in my last two TVs.

NO, never thread your plug under the hitch. Or anything else, ever! Think about it. You do not want the plug to get caught up on something when turning. My plug is on the driver side wall of the bed behind the wheel well. No interference from anything. Same goes with the break away cable. Keep it nice and clear.

I have ours on the drivers side forward of the wheel well because i also have a slide-in truck camper that I use. I have never had any problems with the fiver plug getting fowled up while turning. This also allows for the plug to be under my tri-fold tonneau cover and out of the rain while towing.

Mine is located on the left side of the truck bed, about 12" before you get to the wheel well. Works great, that's the same place it's been on the last 4 trucks I've owned.

I've had mine installed several different places. I prefer LH side and a little ways in front of the wheel well. I like it in front of the wheel well so if I need to get to it while hooked up, it is easily reached. I've always been able to lay the cord over the hitch frame work so it wil not get caught.
