Wish I could help more. Good Luck

When the engine dies you should get an error code - a series of flashing lights. Use the owners manual to see how to read the error code and it should indicate what the problem is.

My 7.5 has a similar problem as well, and searching this forum did not turn up any related help.

I assume you are using your dash or remote switch & there are no error codes, is there a way you can disconnect or isolate the switch? Then you could try the genset mounted switch & if it works, you've found the problem. If not, you haven't spent anything yet!

If the generator control box does not see AC output when you start it it will stop when you release the switch. Many reasons for no AC output but not likely a problem with the switch.

On my 6500 Onan Gen. just below the start switch on the Gen. is a plug you can disconnect it. This plug is for your remote switches in the motor home.
If the Gen. will start and run without the plug connected it will not be the Gens fault. There also is a breaker switch at the Gen. that you can turn off to let the Gen. start without a load on it.
Hope this helps.
