4 inch foam mattress topper from Costco, it is a little long for our queen but is the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on. About $150.00.

I have a Liberty Back supporter (it's a pillow top style mattress) which the owners purchased new when I picked up the rig. So I can't tell you how much it cost but it's a great mattress.

I had trouble sleeping on the mattress in my old rig. and purchasing a memory foam top did help quite a bit.

As far as the Mrs. kicking you while you are sleeping, my mother had to take my dad to the emergency room one night when he fell off the bed an split his ear on the night stand. After which he kept saying that he had to sleep with one eye open from then on.

Visco elastic (tempurpedic knockoff) from Verlo. Even better than my temper in the house and my very expensive stearns and foster at cottage. Sure wish I would have found it first.

Just bought a Bed in a Box, what a difference in the mattress we were sleeping on. Very happy with it. They cut it to fit our king size platform. Weighs about 100 lbs and was shipped right to our door.

I may be the only one that doesn't know but would you explain what a bed in a box is and where you got it?

When we were setting out as fulltimers in 2000, we knew our mattress was extremely important. We tried a bunch of mattresses and finally bought a Sterns & Foster ($1,200) and have never regretted it. When we rarely sleep on a different bed, we just appreciate our S&F even more. We tried memory foam on the mattress at our beach rental house and it helped a lot, but still not the same.

My opinion: don't overdo the memory foam. Too much and the bed gets too soft - you sink in and can't roll as easily. There are many different mattress makes and styles because there are so many different personal preferrences. You have to experiment to see what works best for you, and it may even mean a different mattress for DW than DH.

If your RV mattress is a junk coil spring like ours was a topper won't help. Our's sagged under my weight and almost ruined my back. We replaced it last year with a foam "bed in a box" from Costco. Extremely firm- love it. We're crazy over our sleep number bed at home but like the foam bed just as much.
