VW dealers won't service them and RV dealers say ,"Go to the VW dealer."

The Rialto, as well as the Rialta are Class C's. There both built on a cut-away chassis.

Rialto's were all built on the VW gas engine chassis by Winnebago(& Itasca label). Are you referring to the LeShero built in 1980's by Winnebago using the Renault Diesel Engine, witch would destroy the transmission within a year or two?

Yeh, MNtundraRet, I was trying to figure out if I had missed something.... Rialta Diesel? New one here. And you're sure right about the LeSharo. That thing was hideous (engine-wise). 0-60 in 35 seconds.

When I first saw a LaSharo, I thought it was pretty neat. It had all the right features and didn't look too bad. Then I found out about the Renault drive-train. It doesn't matter if its gas or diesel, there's no way I'd touch one, even for free. I've seen people use a newer FWD drive-train in them (usually Chrysler, I don't know why). I'd rather buy a '60 van and convert it myself than touch LaSharo.

I read someplace that some company was offering to replace the Renault engine and box with the running gear from the Chrysler Neon. I believe the estimated cost was estimated to be about $20K.
We have one for sale down the road and it has been sitting there for over a year!

While shopping for a Sprinter based Class B van last Fall, I researched Rialto on the net.
Mostly negative comments came up. Class B Dealers I talked to said they were no longer made and that they had poor experience with them when they were around.
Seems two problems predominate: 1) VW Chassis was too light (or flimsy) for the Class C coach-build and 2) Very Poor warranty service from VW and too much finger pointing between WV and Winnebago.
Get a Good Sprinter camper you'll love it!!
