And, if I understand correctly, it really doesn't matter too much what kind of meat you have as long as it is in the original container (and isn't from someplace weird)? Again, in both directions, though they might be looking for different things?

On several crossings this summer we have been asked to put down the back window in the SUV, and we were asked if we were carrying oranges or beef the last time we entered the U.S. on the Alaska Highway. We have had no problem to two times we have entered Canada this year so far. We have crossed the border four times so far on this trip.

I think it depends on how anal the border guard wants to be as entering the US last summer we had to toss 2 dozen jumbo wieners that were in unopened packaging.

True. I have been asked (about a month ago) "are all the animals shots current?", of course they where, and of course I had proof, which I offered to the Guard who declined to see it. That was on the Canadian side coming back home....never been asked anything about the dog when I'am US bound.

The food thing is quite random. We never take anything that is risky - no meats, veggies etc. We just plan a stop on the other side and stock up. Truly is a bit of a pain but then when the guards (both ways) ask I can say no and carry on. I also now have a Nexus and last time I crossed the Guard just ask how my day was going. I said great and off I went. Nexus has different rules though and I like 'em

All meds in original RX bottles.

My husband and I both put all our meds into compartment containers (mine goes a whole month; husband two weeks.) Can we not take them this way across the border? He takes some in the morning and some in the evening and needs to keep them separated in compartments. It will be very inconvenient to have them back in their RX bottles while traveling in Canada.

foldowncandy: I believe you should just have the original bottles with you so that if they get "picky" you can at least link the number of types of pills to the same number of printed bottle labels.
