I feel its like buying a automobile today.
GM has had a 72 hour sale to get rid of their Trucks.
To me I rather wait a few months and see what I can get NEW.
Yes I can buy something NEW today for cash on Ebay or local.
But I would hate to see that if I waited till sept or oct I could have save at least another $5000,$10,000.
I feel many companys will be out of business,But even if you pay MSRP they still can go out of business.
Too me I rather fly from NYC and take a cab from the airport to wherever my RV will be.I have only been looking on the websites the last year
But since the economy sucks, maybe it will be the time to buy something...
I am not looking for something as a tradein(but then again you never know}
I just want to use it as a getaway for a month or 2 a year.I would think it would off set the hotel cost....Jt
UPDATED
I pay cash for my car every 2 or 3 years...
Why would I want to pay interest on something I can just pay off in cash and not worry about a payment??Thanks JT

As noted inflation is coming and it will be huge because of many companies holding prices in check due to the market place. When the current inventories of all things are gone and have to be rebuilt the reality of costs will have to be addressed. I do think those who buy new in the coming months at step discounts stand to sell in 2-3 years at near their buy in price but will not like the price of a new one in 2011.
The person who puts the same dollars into key properties at steep discounts today will really have a smile on their faces say 5 years down the road I expect.
The falling RV prices when everything going into building a MH is going up can not last forever.

Ain't that the truth!
A 2008 RV for $60K? Why wait for September? We just bought a new 2009 for just over half that.

Then that's what you should do. Personally I don't like hotels. When was the shower cleaned? When was the last time the bedspread you are sleeping on cleaned? Did they clean the glasses and coffeepot or wipe them out with a bathroom rag? When was the chair you are sitting in cleaned and what was the last couple that used the room doing on it before you sat down? The hotel room says "no smoking" but that does not always happen. How about the spread of bedbugs that are now in the US?
I could go on and on about hotels and I have stayed in some very nice ones but I would not trade staying in my RV for them. I like knowing the stuff on top of the covers is mine.

I must be looking in the wrong places. Here in MN (IMHO) prices on a unit which is over five years old seem to be holding steady for the last few years.
The thing that I'm seeing is now you can buy a good clean unit easier. Since things are not selling so fast, more good units are staying on the market longer.
"Falling like a rock" - I just don't see it on used units. Now on a new unit who knows? Maybe that price is just the "real" price, and not the one that is way overinflated.

But I see many people on the for sale sites still asking above retail for their coaches.

I am sure they are doing that because they are really upside down on their loan. If fuel prices stay the same or increase people just are not going to be using their MH, let alone buy a new one. It is very rare now to see a MH on the road and I live in a metropolitan area.
We took a trip from No. California to Salt Lake City two months ago. It cost us $500.00 in gas. We could have flown there, rented a car and stayed in our friends home for a week and not spent as much money as we did for fuel and two nights in an RV park. We stayed on their property when we were there. My MH sits on my property now because of high fuel cost.

Expedia.com says:
Airfare - two people SFO to SLC: $412 - absolute cheapest possible flight, two week prior notice (other airports will be higher).
Car rental - one week: $163 - absolute cheapest possible tiny car.
Total: $575 without gas, food or anything else.
Looks like your RV was a better deal than you think. Plus you didn't have to suffer the indignity of the TSA, poor airline service and the crowds at the airport.

Yep you are very right
Many hotels have bed bugs and you are also right about not washing the glasses and changing the blankets.
Yep I am talking about NEW RVs falling in price.
I don't know about Used Rvs and their prices but I rather pay more and enjoy something new.
Yep my friend has a 2 year old 38 foot boat she will not be useing because of gas prices
As I said before and I think many will agree.
I am not looking to vacation this summer, unless I take a ride to Montauk Long Island.
But I think when we hit sept dealers will be losing money on their RVs.
A friend of mine works at a RV dealership in florida, and he tells me that
if a RV stays on the lot not being sold.Then its costing the dealer money while the RV is sitiing on the lot.(bank loan on rv}
But he also said that the dealer has deals on some when they need to get rid of
some.
To me that was last year
And we will see in 2 months what prices will be.
