Geeeee
I have been looking many at RVs for the last few months and I do
see that prices are dropping like a rock.
I see that there are many RVs at storage places are all 4 sale.
I rather buy something new
But I do see a few great deallllls out there
But I feel by the end of the summer you will be able to save alot more since dealers will have
to get rid of them or just let them sit on their lots....
I have been looking on ebay
There is a site where a new 2008 RV is just under $60,000.
I feel in sept it will be $50,000..
This is just one of many great deals out there.
For now I rather stay in a hotel and have room service.
Maybe when sept comes around and I know the market has droped, then I will invest is a RV ......

Maybe you can also follow some of the threads that are identifying which dealers are going out of business which are selling at liquidation prices or at the least when the bank starts auctioning of their inventory (I believe you need cash or have your financing in place when you bid on a unit at an auction).

You can also follow the web sites that sell rvs such as rvtrader. when I visit the site from time to time I see listings (especially late model/newer rigs) dropping their asking prices (by a bunch).

Not being in a hurry or by emotional type purchasing is your best allie.

Good luck on your search, oh lastly you may find that when purchasing an rv investment is not the word to describe your purchase. The sales person will most likely use the word investment often.

Well just as you believe fuel is dumping the prices, watch out for inflation. It's bound to take it the other direction as it is, already evident, at the manufacturer's end. Their prices may only reflect a reduction until their ducks are in a row. Just a friendly tip. Remember fuel consumption you can control, inflation you can not. If you want to enjoy the RV lifestyle jump in. This is not an financial investment, but an investment is personal/family lifestyle. Enjoy whatever you do.

Want a great deal? Buy one of the orphaned units, those that the mfg went out of business. Be aware however that the drop in price is also reflected in the value at trade time. For instance, there are many dealers out there giving 50% of book value on Nationals. As a trade!

Alfas, same thing. Not sure about the WRV units.

Good luck with the wait. Don't hold your breath you will get a new nickname. Blueboy. (G)

Even the new ones are having trouble getting warranty work when the companies have gone under. Locally they will work on your rig, and then it is up to you to try and get something from the manufacturer.

Well I have stayed in Many Hotels and enjoy them in Santa Monica,Malibu,Lake tahoe and Napa Valley areas...
But since I retired at age 45
I am sure many would say buy a RV now and enjoy it...
To me I would like to see what Sept and Oct will bring us....
Yes Cash is the best way to pay for things,,,,I hate to pay interest on anything.
If you have cash use it baby...
I am sure many companys will be going out of business soon.
But I will also look Local to see what the prices are.
I am from the east coast and just would rather stay in a RV for a month at $2000,instead of the $200-$300 a day I am used to paying while vacationing.

You never invest in an RV - so do not even think you will come out with more $$ than you put in.

No surprise that prices are dropping. Some folks may be surprised when the situation of the 30's comes, put come it will.

"Never pay cash for a depreciating asset." MoHo's are NOT an investment.
They ARE, as Lug_Nut says: "an investment in personal/family lifestyle."
