Did a search and came up pretty empty. We are going to be meeting our son from Dallas,TX Labor Day weekend. We are trying to meet him halfway and unfortunately that wound up being Birmingham. Does anyone know of any campgrounds within a 50 or so mile radius of Birmingham that we can meet him? RV park reviews was pretty empty on campgrounds in this area also. Thanks.

There are plenty of them. take a look at this screen grab from the Trailer Life Campground Navigator. See all of those P's on the map? When you highlight one, you get info for that park, including a phone number.

The red P's denote Good Sam Parks. The S's are for service centers. The A's are for attractions.

That TL Campground Navigator comes on CD - you just load it into your computer. I find it a LOT easier than the thick printed directories.

I have no financial interest in it - I'm just a big fan of it.

Try looking at Logans Landing. I understand it is very nice, we will be staying there this weekend.

We like Oak Mountain State Park. Try to get a site in the "A" section if you can.

2nd the Oak Mountain State Park. Just south of Birmingham off I-65. There is Rickwood Caverns just north of Birmingham as well. They have only about 13 spots. http://alapark.com

We have stayed at Birmingham South in Pelham, about 12 miles south. It was nice. RV Park Reviews rates it here.

In our area there are only a few nice CG's. In the metro area there is Oak Mountain State Park, and Birmingham South (former KOA). If your are using the Birmingham area as a reference point that will open up your options.
On Logan Martin Lake in the Pell City area (about 30 miles east of Bham)there is Logans Landing (will need resv early for labor day) and there is Lakeside Landing. About 45 miles southeast of Bham is Wind Creek State Park in Alexander City. My personal choice would be LakeSide Landing in Pell City or Oak Mountain State Park. Labor Day weekend will be crowded anywhere in the area.
