Check out Hoover RV Park. It is located next to the Hoover Met, the double AA Birmingham Barons baseball park.
The down side is that it is just a basic parking lot in a nice area of town with no bath house.
The up sides are that it has full hookups, it is very clean, it is a very nice area, close to dining and shopping and it is spotless. Cost is $32 per night.
If you need a playground, bathhouse, trees and a campground feeling, try Tannehill.
If you need cleanliness, convenience and security, this is for you.

I favor Logan's Landing also and will be there this weekend and Labor Day with DW and 2 pups - B10. We bought our lot there in May because we enjoy going there so much. We leave our TT there and just drive from house (35 min away) with food and clothes for weekend. Saves on gas too.
It's about a 1hr 15 min drive from DT Birmingham. Swimming pool and beach on Lake Logan Martin, playground w/volleyball, horse shoes, basketball, slides and swings. Also has a private lake to fish in (no license needed) with paddle boats and canoes for rent. Also rent bikes for kids. Our family enjoys it too.
They will probably still have sites available for Labor Day. They have aan 800 # for reservations and questions. Go to their website: Logan Landing
Also, you could go with Birmingham South - stayed there on a shakedown campout with new RV 2 yrs ago. It was a KOA still takes KOA & Good Sam discounts. Tannehill is nice and just off interstate coming into Birmingham, and Oak Mtn is okay too. We've stayed at Oak Mtn 3 or 4 times.
We've camped at Burchfield also and it is a beautiful campground but a long way from highway and a very, very long and steep road down to (and therefore up from) the campground on the river. Towed a PU down but not my TT.
Where you stay just depends on how close you are to meeting and/or if you want to get away from Birmingham proper.

It's said ignorance and apathy cause most of the world's problems, but I don't know and I don't care.
Sorry I forgot about Tannehill. It is a nice park.
One thing to consider is do you need or want full hook ups?
Do you want cable? Swimming, Wifi? If so your choices narrow down quite a bit.

We have stayed at Hoover RV Park several times. It is close in to restuarants and shopping and easy to get in and out. The park does not have any perks(no pool,no bath house). It has full hookup and cable.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. We have made reservations at Birmingham South. We would love to have gone to Tannehill as it looked very interesting but from what I could find out, they do not take reservations. They are first come first served. The lady at Birmingham South was very nice and seemed excited when I told her the reason we were going there. So, we will be in the great state of AL come Labor Day. I just hope the weather cooperates!
