I have the standard Valterra water regulator. It seems like these things only last about 1 year before they quit working. Mine will completely shut the water flow off even when the water out of the spigot is not on high. If I take the regulator off and blow through the "out" end, it will reset and work for about 3 seconds and then shut off again. I attach directly to the spigot and run the hose from the regulator to the camper. Is there anything you can do to prevent this or am I doing something wrong?
I am not familiar with that kind of regulator. I can tell you that something has gotten inside of it and is plugging it up. If you can take it and put back pressure on it, this may clear it. If it does not do the trick, then you would need to take it apart. I don't know if you can do this with that regulator. I purchased my regulator from RV filtration on the web. It is a WATT 263A and it is worth its money. Mine you can take it apart and buy new parts if necessary.

Sounds like the diaphragm is sticking for some reason, maybe trash inside. Maybe you can take it apart and clean it up. I bought one a couple of months ago but I am not sure if you can take it apart, I will have to look at it when I get home.

I went by my local rv dealer yesterday and two other guys came in with the same complaint on the same regulators while I was there. The dealer stated that they had about 20 others that they had been brought back and they were not going to carry that brand anymore. Hopefully, a different brand regulator will solve the problem.
You should really consider getting one of the Watts units from Home Depot or Lowes. There are a lot of posts on here about them, and they really solve the problem, especially if you put a filter before the regulator to help keep it clean.
