Time to get the ball rolling for a new trailer as I sure wouldn't want the one you describe.

ok lets clarify a few things

1. No bashing intended this is to inform consumers.
2. I make no mention of any other Keystone Model, ONLY Passport 280bh.
3. Yes. Keystone, the purchasing dealer and the servicing dealer are all
aware. I live in NC but bought the camper in Va.

Yes. I have web access and I intend to take legal action against both Keystone and the selling dealer. Currently in the works.

Will keep you posted.

Chris

I have seen many a post about the Passport line (a lot of them bad). I own a Keystone Hornet and have been extremely pleased with it. I hope you get the satisfaction you are looking for from Keystone.

Legal action? I feel we are not getting the whole story here, there has to be more to this.

More to this ?????

I Bought the camper on 3/19/08 in Ashland Va. I live in Hurdle Mills NC. They wanted
the camper back so that they can do the teflon coating (a waste to me, wife wanted it). I pulled it back up to Ashland the next week. The night before dropping it off for the service ... stayed at the Americamp just across the I-85 bridge from where the dealer was located. It rained. I noticed the slide leak. I notified the selling dealer the next day while dropping it off.

Because of the service I received and the professionalism of the service staff, I chose not to have that dealership perform the fix. Their competence is a whole differt story. I spare the details. I scheduled service closer to home. The local Raliegh/Durham Keystone guy had/has a back log of six months but had an opening in a different location of the same dealership in Fayetteville. So thats where Im taking it on the scheduled date July 7th. Two hours away from the house.

While camping this week ...... Im currently at the KY Jellystone on the family vacation ... a neighboring camper called me out to show me / tell me to take a look at the undercarriage of the camper ... the gray water leak .... massive. You want pictures ? The bottom side of the camper should be flat. It was bowed considerably (and still is) toward the ground due to the weight of the water.

Now I dont claim to be a trailer mechanic, But I am here to tell you that leaks of this kind running over the type of material, mainly the type of wood they are using, in this camper is a death sentence. How do I know that ? My family has been in the woodworking business for years. My father, practically his entire life ... hes now 75.

Why do I seek legal counsel ? Ive been through this with a car. I intend to go straight for the Jugular ... Va law ... I still havent gotten word on whether or not I can do it from NC ... states that I can sue the manufacturer and dealer up to 18 months after the initial purchase. ...and thats exactly what Im going to do.

I would prefer not to do this. I believe in the world we live in today most try to put blame elsewhere for financial gain.

However, I believe that McGeorges and Keystone will force me into a corner. You,
RandACampin may choose other avenues. I learn from my past mistakes and will aggressively pursue both companys. I did not create these issues and the camper has been used only four times. Are you telling me that you would actually take a more soothing approach ?

The camper is a piece of******... all I ask is that they give me another New 2008 Keystone Passport 280bh.

The wife and I make well over six digits ... still 20k bucks is alot of money to us. We work hard for what we have ...

Again, I dont want to get too far off track. My initial posting is intended to notify consumers. Simply that. Be careful and pass this unit and dealer up if you want to save yourself headaches. Im the proof !

You typed a lot and filled in some blanks but it reads as if you haven't given a dealer rep or Keystone a reasonable chance to make things right. YOU WILL NOT BY LAW GET A REPLACEMENT. I will tell you that upfront. There is no lemon law for travel trailers. What do I know you ask?? I had a unit replaced by Gulfstream. It was not a short and sweet process. It involved assistance from our dealers service manager as well as a meeting at the unit with Gulfstreams representatives to view the actual damage. The first mistake you are making is continuing to use this camper and not bring it somewhere ASAP for service or to start the ball rolling for a replacement. What killed outs was the entire rear wall and queen bed slideout failed, add in water damamge and black mold under the lanolium and in the front storage compartment due to the failure and it was so bad the dealership could not not do the repairs on site. The were going to send the unit back to the manufacturer for the repairs. That was the point the line in the sand was drawn as I bought a new TT not a factory reconditioned one. Legal assiatnce is a good idea but not open and shut like with a car.

Sumguy,

While I feel for your problems as I have "been there" myself over the years, let's confine our remarks to problem areas and not visit the "legal" aspects of this issue...

What did McGeorge's do to fix the original leak? You're not the first person to have the slide out leak on a 08 Passport. We just bought a 09 Passport and "hoping" they fixed the issue. Would a slide out topper work in this case? Sorry to hear about your troubles. Good luck and keep me posted on your progress.

I disagree!

I disagree. I like my Keystone Springdale, I would recommend them to anyone. I dont think its fair to get on here and bash things, when there are thousands of keystone products out there performing well.
