This could get very interesting if they have decided to start checking rv's.

We might be on the verge of finding out weather a tv that is overloaded is truly illegal or not. All this debating in theory may be over. Are all those overloaded half tons gonna be shut down or are they gonna have the last laugh.

Then there are those purchasing with an LLC. Does that make them business? Are they gonna start getting tickets for not having DOT numbers? If they are business and over 16000lbs, do they have to have a Commercial licence?

Now, if they are looking for dyed diesel, great. I know lots and lots of people that drive high dollar trucks that brag all the time on how they are doing it. Most even brag that they stole it from the company they work for.

Of course, it could be a case of an over zealous DOT officer. We all know that never happens.

I was stopped in Maryland after passing a weigh station while driving an old International Loadstar stake bed truck. I weighed in at 13,000 lbs with no load but thought the weigh station applied to commercial vehicles only and since this was just a "hobby truck" of mine, didn't really dawn on me that I would need to stop.

I got a really nice (seriously) overview from the officers about the requirements. They said that the weighing of vehicles applies to *all* vehicles, not just commercial and pointed out the road signage which stated that *all* vehicles over a certain weight must stop. I asked about RVs after seeing one pass without stopping and they told me that technically an RV should stop but they usually look the other way for RVs ... and would have for me as well had they realized I was a non-commercial driver before pulling me over.

Well if they want RV's to stop. Post it ! This will make the truckers happy to sit behind us at a weigh station. Most truck have incab transponders so they do not have to stop on the scale just drive over it.

In TN. on I-40 the scales are protable.

I have to ask also, where was this? Was it Muhlenberg? I have not seen them do that before, but maybe being the holiday week they are checking them for now.

It was in Exeter. Right near Gibraltar Rd.
