I would appreciate any advice on what to expect on the pricing of a new RV in the current market.

Am looking at the Jayco Designer vs. Grand Junction both in the 36' range.

All the dealers are quite eager to sell. They assure you that they are willing to discount, but really don't want to discuss the bottom line until you come to the table.

In terms of % off list what can I expect?

Thanks.

Well, with NO arguements you can get Jayco's priced for 30% off MSRP from RVDirect.com

Use them to help you price these units and see what it costs equipped as you like, they have option lists, shipping options, etc.

Bull. Once you are done looking, ask em to give you the price and if they don't. Stand up and walk out. Once they see you aren't in the mood for BS. They will give you a price fast enough. Our dealer, that we have bought 2 prior RVs from, gave us 30% off the sticker/msrp right up front without any haggling. To be quite frank with you. If I have to play games with an RV dealer. I aint buying from them any way.

Best price I found on the 2008 Jayco 36 RTLS was $51,000 at Trailside RV in Mo. I love this floor plan, and it will likely be my 8th Jayco, a retirement gift I hope! Jayco has a 2 year warranty as opposed to Dutchmans 1 year. HERE

Coachlight RV also in Mo has a new '07 36 RTLS for $44,000!

Maybe this will help in negotiations! Best of luck!

I've heard different #'s, but 25% off MSRP is a good number to start or end with.

As mwebber78 said, check out the Jayco's from RV Direct. We gladly made the trip for the savings (bought Laredo) and bottom line price from the start.

Now are these units (Jayco Designer vs. Grand Junction) to be used as vacation or are you thinking of using these for fulltiming? If you are looking for a fulltime unit make sure these will do the trick for you. Quailty does cost a little more and is worth it in the long run. Not saying these are not good units but are they true fulltime living units? Only you can answer what you are looking for in a 5er. Good luck in your choice... We are picking up our unit from RVWholesalers next week.
The no haggle price was 31 1/2% off the MSRP. I don't know if prices have gotten even softer in the 8 weeks since we ordered - maybe not for the wholesalers who don't hold inventory... but I'd bet that the lots with inventories sitting and no buyers walking in are getting more flexible?

Still... I found that old habits die hard and the local guy I attempted to deal with kept inching my net cost up and up all the time claiming he was matching my best deal. I finally ended up walking away on the local guy - but if I'd been a bit more patient and persistent I might have been able to sort through the baloney and get a reasonable deal. The local guy just had one too many "misunderstandings" before the contract was signed to keep my business - so I went the Internet route and found it quite easy.
