Recommend that you have the dealer OPERATE (not just tell about the operation) each and every item, piece of equipment, and appliances to assure that all of them work to specifications and YOUR satisfaction. Also recommend you spend the full day and a night at the dealership and you then operate all items to assure you are comfortable with the complete MH. The taping suggestion is a good one during the PDI. Do not let the PDI be rushed and if you or your family members have any slight apprehension while operating things during the day & night, tell the dealership to operate those items again during the next day.
If you do not have much experience driving a MH, please have the dealership ride with you prior to actually signing the final contract and accomplish quick to emergency lane changes as well as other quick maneuvers that you will encounter on the highway. Probably did that when researching which MH to purchase, but, do it again. Also recommend that all family members {& yourself} be made fully aware of the Height of the MH. Necessary when backing under trees etc. An empty parking lot is a good location to practice turns and backing-up into a parking space {2 Spaces or more}.
Welcome to the RV & MH world and this forum. This forum is here for you whenever help is needed. You will love it.
welcome to the forum, I have a 08 Fourwind windsport 34B, for some reason
Magellan is always $5-6K higher than Windsport, I wonder if Magellan has
koni shock, anti-sway bar, satellite, 2kw inverter, already installed.
be carefull when making tight turns, the rear swing out more than you think and
watch out for trees. you made the good choice on 34B,I'm very happy with mine.
make your self a check list before you start the engine make sure sliding doors
pantry selves are latched, levelling jacks are retracted.
happy camping!
First off welcome to the forum, you will find a wealth of information here from a lot of people with much experience to share.
Since you mentioned how much you paid for your rig, it's my opinion that, when all the dust settles, people just don't want to pay more then the next guy/gal. The most important thing when making any purchase in my opinion is that you are happy, bottom line, right?
Don't forget there are no dumb questions here, believe me I asked my share, trust me...
If you see a older beige colored rig hooking his horn as you pass it just maybe Harlee and Pops..
Congrats, be safe and have fun!!!
PS don't forget to add a pic of your rig in your profile so we can see your new toy...
Captain: Pops
Ist Mate: Harlee "Vicious Attack Dog" only if you try to move her when she's sleeping...
Congratulations! I am also a new Class A owner. I bought a 2005 Winnebago Journey 34H 2 months ago with only 12,000 miles on it. I was surprised how quickly I was able to adjust to driving it. Don't let anyone scare you into not driving it because you are new to RVing. Just take it slow and relax! I am glad I started with this size (I have never had or driven an RV of any size.) We are having a great time and we have already put more than 1,500 miles on it!
Congrats! We just bought a Infinity by Four Winds. New to us, and a BIG step up from our C. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we have enjoyed our's so far.
I would recommend that you reserve a nice pull-thru site at the CG closest to the dealership and camp there for a few days while you fiddle with all the bells and whistles to get a handle on how everything works.
Driving isn't difficult, just remember that you are sitting on the tires and adjust your turns accordingly, go slow and brake early until you get the feel of how the unit handles. By the way, the rear will ALWAYS follow the front. lol
Our first RV is a 42' MH and neither of us had any more experience camping or driving the beast than you, in fact DH had never camped - ever. We are doing just fine. Our PDI lasted about 30 minutes, we did not video it.
Tips:
always start the MH engine before you start the generator. Let the big engine start the little one,
get a couple of little levels, when you pull into a site, creep along and stop when the bubbles are as close to level as possible before operating the MH levels,
watts divided by 120 = amps - good to know for all the "appliances" you may take along on trips
get a voltage meter and keep it plugged into a socket in the kitchen
Scot brand toilet tissue
Did I read correctly? You are going to travel with 8 people in a 34 coach? Or, do you travel with 8 people in several coaches.
If it is 8 in one coach I would stick with hotels or see my psyhcologist.
