Just returned to NJ after picking up our new 33' Cameo in FL. Since we are new to 5th wheel towing we didn't know what to expect ride wise. Needless to say, the DW is not happy. SC is the absolute pits on I 95 due to the expansion joints. Had a Trailer Saver air hitch installed while picking up the 5er and it helped some. Where do I go next? Truck is an '08 Dodge 3500 CTD dually long bed. The complaints are harsh ride and porpoising.
Some of my options, I think, are:
air suspension on truck
different shocks on truck
shocks on trailer (it has none)
More Ryde suspension on trailer
I don't want to start throwing $$$ at this situation when, hopefully, some of you out there whth experience can send me in the right direction.

Hi I am not sure but if you are talking about Chucking which can be caused by the expansion Joints ~`We Put on a Moyr Ryd pin box hitch and eliminated the problem~`The chucking made my tummy very sick~~~Sandy

Gary, the Mor/Ryde pin box will almost eliminate all the chucking you are experiencing. We have a Freightliner, heavy Carriage with Mor/Ryde IS and the Mor/Ryde pin box. Smooth all the way, even on I-80 and I-10. I-95 almost all the way up and down is bad, but the Mor?Ryde pin box saves the day.

Another place to spend a few dollars is to go to the EquaFlex spring hangers. It will help smooth out he ride considerably and with the wet bolt kit increase the life of the spring bushings etc. Also it might be how you are loaded, try adding, removing water in the fresh tank and even see how your trailer is loaded. Usually a little more weight in the front helps smooth the ride but not always.

I pulled my 41' Cardinal from Oh. to Fl.with 3/4 ton GMC crewcab shortbed. It porpoised quite a bit.Installed airbags as helper springs.Towed to Me. and was surprised at the improved ride.Truck carried the load much better.Came thru SC on way here & agree thier roads are rough, but Maine has them beat.Even diesel pusher folks complain about the roads here.Good luck.

The airbags on my truck really took the jars out of the ride.Made it springier if that's a word? Already had equa-flex from the factory.

We just installed the Mor Ryde pin box and can't believe the difference also try balancing your load or shifting you load first forward and then back. I found that having a full tank of fresh water helps the ride considerably but my fresh water tank is at the very rear of our f'ver. Part of it will be finding where you receive the best ride verses how much pin weight, But again I can't say enough about the Mor Ryde pin Box. WE WILL NEVER BE WITHOUT ONE AGAIN. It probably took out better that 75% of the rough ride.

We have a Cameo also and are not experiencing your problems. We have the Mor Ryde pin box and RE trailer suspension. Also our 06 came with shocks.
The pin box should stop the chucking.

For some the spacing of the expansion joints match the spacing of the wheels on the tow vehicle and the trailer. There in not much you can do when that happens except to slow down until you are beyond that particular road. I use Timbrens ( http://www.timbren.com ) on my Dodge and it helped the ride a lot but expansion cracks are the bane of RVing.

Gary, I too have been thrilled with Mor/Ryde on a previous coach. I now have Trail Air front and rear on a 37' Holiday Rambler. Sweet ride and seems to like the expansion joints too.
