Greetings seafaring warriors!!

The moment of truth is drawing closer and our destiny is before us. We ponder the past and remember:

The battle of the Coral Sea
Commadore Perry’s battle of lake Erie
“da*n the torpedos, full speed ahead”!!!!!!!

Then we recall one of the greatest floating conflicts of all time!! The 2nd annual “battle of Mohican”. Well, now, the time is drawing near for us to sally forth, water cannons in hand, fear and dread in our hearts, but bravely marching….uhhh……….slogging to our battlecanoes to wreak carnage on the river.

________The RUMP BUMPIN RALLY is near!!!_______

The THIRD annual Mohican River, Ohio Rally is set for August 8, 9, and 10.

A brief schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, Aug. 8: hotdogs supplied by the host and hostess
Friday evening around 9 PM. Outdoor movie theatre. (see below)
Saturday, Aug. 9: third annual battle of the Mohican with buses leaving the campground at 11 AM. All canoe'rs are advised to be armed and dangerous for your own self defense!!
Saturday night: Potluck dinner. Theme to be announced L8TR!! (stay tuned)
Saturday night: wine tasting (see below)

I seem to recall we also have a few birthdays to celebrate so let me know.

I also received this email from Kim at the campground with information on some of the changes (new paint, new electric, new theatre) and some things that are the same (same rates as last year). Also included is a description of some of the things which are going on that weekend including the wine tasting. Please read this over in order to better plan your weekend.

“Changes to the campground since last year...nothing to speak of that is of huge relevance....New electric on the lower end, making the entire park 50/30 amp. Buildings are continued to be painted in their exciting tropical colors, new deck on the store ..... nothing wonderful, super expensive or revolutionary like a new shower house!!! I am sad to say!!! But we are working away at the things we can undertake!!!

We do have a new projector and huge inflatable screen to show movies on....we do this on Friday nights in the game field....so if the group has a movie that they would like to watch...we could do that! It is a lot of fun to drag up your lawn chairs or blanket on the ground...like a mini-drive in! We start the movie around 9:00 - 9:15 as it gets dark.

Our campground prices have not changed since last year. It is $30 per night on the river and $25 off the river. For your group, we do not charge for additional people in the same camping unit. (i.e. no charge for any kids that come)

For the wine tasting...normally it is $10 for 7- 2 oz samples...However, for your group, we will do a $1 per sample....so people can do just a few if they like or a lot..."-) their choice. If there is a specific wine that anyone is interested in, please have them (or you) let me know by Aug 1....and we will see if we can have it available to sample and/or purchase. Whatever wines we have to try, will also be available to buy by the bottle. She also has imported beers as well.

There will be appetizers included which will range from various types of cheese, to a Greek Cheese Torta with crackers, pretzels, and chocolate. We will do the tasting on Saturday evening from 7:00 to 9:00.

Some examples of wines that we have sampled and have are.....
Greg Norman Pinot Noir
Red Truck
Riverbank Riesling
New Age Rose
Covey Run LH Riesling
J. Roget Spumante
St Gabriel Riesling
Sonoma Vineyard SAUV BLANC
Sonoma Vineyard CHARDONNAY
Sonoma Vineyard MERLOT
New Age White

For the canoeing,
the group rate this year is $16 per person plus tax, making it $17.04 per person. This is for a group of 12 -49 paying people. If you have 50 or more paying (which your group may, it would be $15 per person plus tax, making it $15.98 per person. What we could do is, as people check in, I will also have them sign the canoe sheet (but not pay for canoeing)...that way we could get an accurate number if you make the "super group" rate and them collect $ once everyone gets in and signed up.

I have you marked down for 11:00 on Saturday 8/9. That sounds good. There will be a bus pick up just for the group that will depart at 11:00 am (or another specified time)....the usual pick ups are 10:00, 2:00 and 4:00 pm. So if you want any of those, let me know. But a large group is fine so schedule a separate pick up, I think it may make shuffling people a little easier.

This is for the 6.5 mile trip, either for a canoe or a kayak. This trip has been taking about 1.5 hours this year....more or less depending on how much you paddle or play! The bus will pick you up here at the campground, transport you up river and then you will float back down to the campground! This year the person price is the same for both....($16 per person, regardless if in a kayak or a canoe -- canoe you must pay for two people, so a canoe or double kayak is $34.08 for two people and a kayak is $17.04 for one person). Makes it kind of fun if you have an odd number or some folks want to try a kayak...it is a little different.

Finally, you can also travel by rafts. Rafts are $21 per person, you must pay for a minimum of three people in the raft. Rafts hold 6 people.

As always, children 10 and under are FREE in the same canoe with two paying people or in a raft with three paying people.

Let me know if I can give you any more information! On a separate note, I do have an embroidery machine this year....so if anyone would want shirts made up with your Ohio Rally Logo, I could do something for you....or my personal favorite neoprene can holders. If you think you may be interested, I could make one up and send to you!

Anyway look forward to seeing everyone! Talk to you soon!
