Anybody have any suggestions for this run?We will be doing it in a couple weeks and have gotten a bunch of different ways to go from mapquest/google/gps.
Good thing is we are leaving at a time that rush hour will not be an issue. I am close to PA/NJ turnpikes and I-95.Any idea of how long I have gotten times between 10 to 12 hrs. I am lookinf for the fastest and easiest way to get to bar harbor.

Thanks

avoid nyc.cross the hudson on either the tappan zee(287)to 684 to 84,or newburgh-beacon,follow 84 thru ct to 90(mass pike)to 495 to 95 to bangor, exit 182a to rte 395,exit 6a to rte 1a to rte 1 in ellsworth, rte 3 to bar harbor.it might not be the shortest distance between point a and point b,but....
i've driven from philly to where i live,(30 minutes from portland)in 8 hours and i'm about 3 hours from bar harbor.
safe trip and enjoy the island

smildrum has it right on ! The only additional comment I would make would be to definitly go up and cross the Hudson at the Newburgh-Beacon bridge. The savings in the cost of the toll, more than pays for the slight additional gas you'll use.
We've been nailed as much as $22.50 for the Tappenzee, but only about 1/4 of that at Newburgh. Discovered this about a year ago when Tappenzee was closed due to an accident. Haven't been over the Tappenzee since, nor plan to, ever again.
My best guess on time would be 10-12 hrs. - depending mostly on traffic.
Have a safe trip and enjoy our beautiful State.

The Tappenzee bridge toll is only on the Southbound side. You don't have to pay a toll going north if I remember right. Yes it is expensive to cross.
