Currently staying at Cold Springs in N.H. Our 30 amp outlet arced out and discolored one prong on plug with slight melting of rubber at discolored prong. The maintance staff replaced outlet and replaced breaker down the road. He was real quick to repair our no power issue which made me happy. Everything is working fine now. He told me our cord is fine. I'm wondering if I should speak with owner and insist on a new cord. Will this cord be fine or should I make a huge issue out of it? On vacation and I am trying to avoid stress..... Any thoughts? Thanks

If the prong is discolored like you said and the rubber around it is melted you need to replace your plug end. This will cause higher amperage since it increases the resistance between the outlet and your cord. You don't need a whole cord just cut off the plug end and replace the plug.

I'm sure the cord itself is fine. The plug is probably OK too, but it's hard to say without looking at it. It wouldn't hurt to have them put a replacement plug end on it, as long as you don't have to pay for it.

Had the same thing happen in Kansas about 3 yrs ago. I insisted they replace my cord not just the end. The tt was new and had a molded end on it and that is what I wanted. I wasn't out to screw them so I went to Walmart, bought an extension cord, cut the female end off of it, then hard wired it back into the tt. The campground took it off my next week's rent(with a receipt).

If the end has gotten so hot it's melted, then it needs to be replaced. I would just replace the end with one of Camco's yellow replacement parts.

Cold Springs has a repair department and parts store. They should send a Tech. out to replace just the plug with the Camco repalcement head.
Should be real easy for them to do considering they have a campground, store, RV store, RV dealership, etc.!!!

The same thing happened to me over the Memorial Day weekend. I didn't notice the fried plug until I went to plug in when we got home. It cost me 45 for the new cord and 45 in labor to have it installed. Now I have a $90 extention cord...

I just picked up the Camco yellow replacement plug at Walmart for $11.00, another item on the "to-do" list.

Same thing happened to me Memorial day weekend. I replaced the plug with the yellow Camco plug. I also bought a Surge guard surge protector after a camper nearby had a lightning strike that cooked everything plugged up inside his camper.

Cant hurt to ask them what they will do, like another poster said they may take the amount off your next trip there. No real money out of their pocket and they keep their customer satisfied.
