Does anyone know of a campground around Joliet, IL? We are visiting the grandkids July 19 and want to spend a few days?

Two suggestions:
#1 - Empress Casino
Exit 127 off of Interstate 80 south to Route 6 left to entrance. (Comment - If the grandkids are going to visit you this is not the place. For there is nothing for them to do. On the other hand it is quiet, clean, easy in/out and reasonable. Oh, yes it is away from the Casino so you are not disturbed by the noise of the casino. If you want to go into the casion a shuttle will deliver door to door.)
#2 - Yogi Bear Jellystone in Millbrook, IL (Comment if the kids are going to be visiting this is the place. From Joliet it is about 25 miles away.) www.jellystonechicago.com

Martins campground is right there on I 80 with full hook ups. Nothing fancy but very functional.

I second the Empress Casino RV Park. Plus you will probably be able to get in there no problem and they are a Good Sam park.
One negative is that I think they only have a dump station behind the hotel; none at the sites.

Illini state park at marseilles and starved rock state park a little further west are nice.

There's a campground in Utica, which is probably 30-40 minutes from Joliet. Not alot of cg's around here I'm afraid....

Make sure you avoid Hide-A-Way Lakes in Yorkville. We did a drive through last weekend. What a creepy place! I would feel so bad for anyone who came from out of town and had to stay there!
We stayed at Jellystone in Millbrook this spring and I agree that the kids would enjoy it (mine do)...but Jellystone will charge you to have your family visit and participate in any of their activities. We had my parents come with my nephew and they wanted to charge each of them an entry fee. If you belong to Passport America you may want to check out Leisure Lakes in Joliet. They are a private club, but also accept Passport America. It may be worth looking into - I would call first. Enjoy your visit!

I drove thru there in May....I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. As soon as I pulled past the office I was very afraid and then I got turned around and none of the roads are marked and I was scared I would never find my way out....

I second Illini State Park, just south of I-80 and Marsailles. Nothing fancy, but functional and cheap. Not too far from Joliet.
