Wondering if cell service exist in the Hatteras island area or what providers have service there?

Two years ago we had Nextel. We would lose service before we got to Rodanthe. No Nextel south. We changed over to Verizon and have service everywhere including on Ocracoke. Usually we have a full signal. I know there are some others that do work, I don't remember which ones.

My cellular roams on Verizon and I had good service in April all over the island.

Cingular... well, At&t now has improved very much over the years on the Outer Banks. We always have pretty good reception there.

We have Sprint and had coverage up and down the OBX... roaming sometimes, but still had coverage. We pay for unlimited roaming so it was no issue for us.

We had US Cellular in 2001 & it worked.
Changed to Verizon in 2003 and it works great.
Had Sprint Air Card in 2007. It worked until we crossed the Oregon Inlet, going south. No Sprint signal in Rodanthe.

US Cellular is good from Nags Head to Ocracoke - It even worked on Portsmouth Island on Cape Lookout NS.

I concur. US Cellular is good in that area.
