We are new to the camping scene and will be taking our first trip without the children at the beginning of October. We have previously been to St. Andrews and St. Josephs in Florida. I would like suggestions that will allow us to take our two dogs to the beach if possible. I am also trying to pick a new spot that we have not visited. We also have reservations at James Island in August. We live in Northeast Ga and with the gas prices like they are, I would like to stay under 400 miles away. Any ideas that you have will be greatly appreciated!

Recommend most of the campgrounds/parks in Myrtle Beach/North Myrtle Beach that time of the year. Dogs are allowed on the beach, but, please pick-up any droppings and deposit them in the many trash cans along the beach dune line.

Flagler Beach FL comes to mind. OR St. Augustine. Beverly Beach Camptown is directly on the beach near Flagler Beach. They allow dogs on the beach there. Water should still be warm in Oct. Right at 400 miles.

We are currently looking at the Outer Banks, Brunswick Isles and maybe Grayton Beach. I just did not want to pass over a great spot. Thanks again for all of the suggestions!

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.

Huntington Beach State Park is absolutely gorgeous!! Just a short trip up 17 to Myrtle Beach to check out the activities. Some of the best seafood dining in Murell's Inlet. Can bike ride from the park.
Spent a long weekend in late October and the ocean temp was still warm enought to enjoy.

Our friends love Huntington Beach State Park though we haven't been there yet. We like Myrtle Beach State Park. We'll take any beach in the spring or fall.
