We're spending 1 week at amarillo ranch just off I40. They usually have a lot of over nighters. I ask one of the workers that has been here about 3 years, and he said it is way down.
Fun Valley up by South Fork Colorado was mentioned, and they said they are hearing it iw way down. We hope to get up there in 3-4 weeks if the farming is going OK.

Of course, it is summer here, but there are a lot less than I remember last year.

It looks to me like the state and federal campgrounds we frequent are as full as usual, but they don't fill up as quickly with advance reservations ... when I go on line to make reservations, I don't have to reserve them as far in advanced...

I think that demand is down, but not so much that the popular parks don't stay full anyway ...

I'm not seeing the RV's on the road like in past years, but when we get to the CG, it is jammed full. Weird. Longer stays maybe, or as another said, more local people.

DW and I just got back from a two week trip that went over three weekends staying at 3 different Georgia State Parks. The CGs were pretty full on the weekends and around 1/3 on the weekdays. The except was last week when Fort Mountain State Park was about 60% during the week.

Not this weekend. All state parks in my area are booked up. Luckily, I made my reservations in advance. Leaving after work today for 4 nights. It will be a nice long weekend getaway & it's only 20 miles away.

We haven't noticed anything being less full. In fact, we headed to the Poconos two weekends ago and it was a last minute deal. I thought we'd either be dry camping for the weekend or not going at all because I couldn't find an available site anywhere. Got lucky and found one though but most places I called were full as are just about all the campgrounds we have stayed at this year except when the weather has been iffy.

michigan state parks on the west side are full. off-site storage is available at some of the parks, but it is being done as a pr move. it has been talked about for awhile now.

We haven't had the time to travel lately but was wondering, with the higher costs lately, if anyone's noticed a reduction in the RV traffic at the overnight stops (KOA's, etc) or the state/federal campgrounds?
I know where we like to go is usually pretty deserted during the week but now I'm thinking maybe the weekends might be pretty sparse, too.

Just curious.

Can't speak for anywhere else but it is tough to get a reservation in the State parks here. You don't dare take off for one of the local parks and figure on getting a spot on a spur of the moment thing. You will probably be disappointed. About as crowded here as I have ever seen them.

I have noticed private campgrounds are definitely not filling up as in the past, I know this because I sometimes wait to long to make a reservation, especially on holiday weekends and I usually loose out and settle for whatever I can get if anything.

Yesterday I decided to start looking at reservations for the last week in August which ends on Labor Day. I was very surprised on how many CG's had sites still available. I had plenty to choose from and wound up in a CG I have been wanting to try.
