It's a pocket knife that my daughter found for me on one of our trips. I keep it now for good luck. When we went to take a boat to the Statue of Liberty, I almost had it confiscated. They made me walk back to my truck and we missed the boat. I don't know the exact rules on crossing the border and have never been to Canada - I've carried it for years for setimental reasons. I'd hate to lose it.

A pocket knife in your own vehicle is not a problem but don't bring it on public transportation or into public events. Some venues allow it, some don't.

For those I confused Wikipedia defines...

"A balisong, otherwise known as a butterfly knife or a Batangas knife, is a Philippine folding pocket knife with two handles counter-rotating around the tang such that, when closed, the blade is concealed within grooves in the handles. "

Nice to know we're not a bunch of knife fighters up here.

We leave on the road today and we will be taking a ferry eventually when we get there. Thanks for the information and help.

I heard somewhere that you should not bring a knife to a gun fight!

We're big on helmets up here (not by choice). However, if you're helmeted and have 3-4 packs of darts with you to ward of ravagers, you should be good to go.

You know, the misconceptions about Canada and Canadians grow more annoying each day!
