Our 460 got between 6.5 and 8mpg (back in the 1980s). It certainly didn't get the mpg the Chevy 350s got, but it had plenty of power. When we pulled a trailer with classic Corvette and two ATVs on it, we got around 6 - 6.5 mpg. If we kept the speed down to 55-60 and weren't towing anything, we got in the upper 7s to 8mpg.

Not too good at all. marvmarcy is telling you the truth. Those 460's drank more gas than I drink beer.

We have a 30ft C with the Chevrolet and 6.0L engine which gets 10-11.5 pulling our HHR with the a/c on.

The thing is, 6- 8- 10- 12, are you really driving it everyday?
It's for vacation purposes. If the price is right and you like it, go for it. You only go around once. So you eat hot dogs instead of lobsters and lowenbraus.

I am selling my class C right now and that seems to be the main question people ask. I simply say 10 to 11.5 mpg (350 engine) And tell them if fuel mileage is a concern, RV-ing is not for you.

Our 1992 28 foot Cobra American had a 460 that used to get us 9 to 10.5 miles per U.S. gallon. We ran Mobile 1 synthetic motor oil and synthetic gear oil in the rear end. We figure the synthetic oil may have increased the mileage .5 mpg but who knows for sure? We did notice it ran cooler and seemed to pull the longer grades a little better with the synthetic oils.Just a thought for what its worth

I get from 6.5 to 9 mpg on mine. 6.5 at 65 and rolling hills and 9 at 58 on level ground.

I still don't understand why people are asking about fuel economy in a commercial truck based HOUSE? These are no Geo Metro's!

What kind of mileage do you expect from a 10,000 lb box on wheels? I'm all jazzed when the darn thing starts, and keeps running! As long as it still runs, I'll be thankful for that, and not worry about the costs to drive the darn thing!

And I'm "souping up" my engine, since it needs more power. If I get 8mpg, I'll be very satisfied! At least I'll be able to climb a hill for a change!

I have a 1997 31ft with a 460 in it. I just took a 300 mile trip two weeks ago and drove VERY conservative (58mph-63mph). I checked the milage and came up with 8.3mpg. Seems the V10's do a bit better.

My average during last years "Out West" trip was 8.3 miles through the the flats states (Dakotas, Wisconsin, Minnesota etc.). Oddly I averaged better in the mountains at about 9.5 mpg. Must have been the coasting down on the downhills! This in a 1994 22 ft Tioga with a Ford 460.
One tip... Don't look at the gas pump total. Just swipe the credit card and keep driving

My 460 gets 10 MPG if I keep my speed below 65 MPH.
