I just installed a permanent pole at our weekend spot and ran lighting to it as well. I keep it flown all day and night during the "better" months. I take it down during the rainy season. I also keep the light on a timer through a low voltage system.

When flying the American Flag at night, does anyone keep a light on it (colored or white) & if so, what type of light holder oe other means do you use. Thanks for any suggestions.

Sweet. Did you purchase the flagholder or fab it up yourself?

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.

Dave:

Made the bracket myself out of aluminum. Bolts are stainless to prevent rust.
Purchased the 16' poles from www.united-statesflag.com
Purchased the Kichler15384AZT spot lights from www.novalightingstore.com

Here's a better pic of the light mountings.

This subject bothered me while at NASCAR a few years ago. Lotsa flags flying 24/7 without lights. To show my respect for our flag, I decided to illuminate mine, but didn't know how. DW suggested I attach a garden solar light to the top of the flagpole. Wallah! It worked, and only for a few bucks and maintenance free. God bless our flag (and God bless DW).

Leadfoot41......We fly a flag using a flagpole buddy off of the rear ladder. On my coach, I have a rear engine compartment 12 volt trouble light on a 20 foot cord. I put a u-clip on the light and attach it to the pole. This 12 volt corded light is nothing unique to Monaco. It's the same light that GM put under the hood of their pick-up trucks for years. It has an on/off switch on the housing and is easy to turn on/off. My brother-in-law bought one for his Winnie and does the same thing. With it clipped just under the flag, it lights the flag well and doesn't draw much power if you don't have hook-ups.
