I haven't been to South Carolina in years. We are more of FL panhandle camper. However, I have been looking at this cg. Just don't know anything about the sites. They do have some oceanfront sites for the date I'm looking at, but I have no clue which sites are best. Would appreciate any info from those of you who have been there. Thanks!

Huntington Beach State Park used to be a favorite of ours until they started taking reservations. We are more of spur of the moment campers in our "own back yard."
None of the camp sites are truly "oceanfront." There are sand dunes between the campground and the beach.
All of the RV sites are nice; some are full hookups; most are water and electric.

Nice park but no oceanfront...did you mean Hunting Island SP.....now they have oceanfront and it is a great park....but most oceanfront is gone 11 months out.

During Holidays and Summer you will need a reservation, as they do not have very many open sites. Many people familiar with the park book way in advance, like 9-11 months. None of the sites are really bad, just depends on the size of your RV as some are better then others, etc.

For Huntington Beach.....don't pick a site that appears to be oceanfront (see campground map) as you will not have a breeze. Been there, done it. As said, the sites have a lot of overgrowth, trees, dunes, etc between ocean & campground. If you choose one that looks a bit farther from the ocean, for example on the inner part of loop, you will have much more air. There are 2 walkways to the beach but recommend a wagon or beach buggy to carry your stuff.

Thanks for all the replies. Will have to look at Hunting Island also. Also, may just go back to the panhandle. Just can't decide.
