Any routes to avoid from Provo to Grand Tetons. Prefer easy and will take longer route. 37 ft. with toad. Map quest says to go:
US 189 to US 40, I 80 into Wyoming toward Cheyenne, WY 89 crossing back into Utah, WY 89 turns into UT30, follow WY 89 to ID 61, back to US 89 to US 26.

Those are the main routes they gave me. I anticipate 6 hours from Provo to GT--is this a good guess.

Thanks

About the ONLY difficult way would be over Teton Pass into Jackson (rote 22). Avoid that and most any other route would be easy. Good luck / Skip

I would take I-15 north to Idaho Falls east 26 to Hoback Junction north to Jackson this route is an easier drive my opinion and it is 359 miles and Map Quest route is 305 miles for travel time I divide 50 MPH into distance that gives you time for lunch and light sight seeing and it always comes out pretty close so my route 7.1 hours,Map Quest 6.1 hours. Have fun

I hate the Interstates and this is the exact same route as I always take going home. More scenic and less traffic than going thru SLC. Only 1 hill to climb in Wy going over Salt Creek Pass which isn't too bad at all. Go for it and enjoy your trip.

I did the 189 to the 80 and spent the night at Fort Bridger, Wyoming. Went back up the 189 through Kemmerer and the Green River area to Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons.

Many trips from Park City to Jackson over the years and your suggested route is the way to go IMHO. Just pay attention when you transition highways around the borders up there. Easy to take the wrong turn. From Provo to US 40 pretty easy now with new highway up Provo canyon.

Dear Summit and Palomas,
Is this route ok for a 43' coach pulling a toad?

Yes. Once you get on the final stretch of 89, you'll go uphill into Starr Valley, but no worries. Take your time.

I've driven between Salt Lake City and Jackson more times than I can count. I'll throw one more route into the mix here.

Take I-15 north to the exit for US-30 in Idaho. Follow US-30 through Lava Hot Springs (worth a stop) to Soda Springs (not so much). From Soda Springs go north on state road 34 to Freedom Wyoming (home of Freedom Arms). This stretch is my favorite, fun to drive, incredibly scenic and very little traffic. From Freedom go north on Highway 89 to Jackson.
