Greetings, helping some friends out looking for a Bunkhouse Trailer, with at least quad bunks. Total sleeping area of AT LEAST 6, up to 8.

They have a New Suburban, and are looking in the range of 23-30 foot travel trailer. I have led them thru many sites, visited dealers, and we have looked at some Salem , Dutchman, Heartland, Trail light..etc.

Here is my question, since I am not really a bunkhouse guy, do any of you have specific models, brands you have...and are happy. or unhappy with??????????

Any and all ideas of what you have, had, and what worked for you. They are new at this, and I want to point them in the right direction.

Thanks all

I am partial to the Heartland products. They are a very customer focused company. One of the fastest growing RV companies out there right now.

We have a North Trail 28BHS and love it. Our good friends have the North Trail 31QBS. They have three kids and a dog and cat that travel with them. The bunkhouse has three bunks and a small dinette. The dinette makes into a fourth bed. They love it. Plenty of room for them. Great quality product and a wonderful company to deal with.

A littel bit longer that what you mentioned, but my favoriate is the Keystone VR1. I think it makes great use of space, plus I like the bunks upfront and between the bottom bunks, you can place a sheet of plywood and extend the bunks to nearly a king sized bed.

For us, not only was the quad bunks necessary, but we also looked for a U-shaped dinnette so that we could all eat together inside if we needed. (Or play games/cards)

Just something else to consider.

We love our Jayco. They have several models which are bunkhouses. We have three bunks now and would love to have four. Wife loves the Kiwi (now known as Feather) and will not allow me to trade it for quad bunks. We have sleep as many as seven in ours.

Check out the KZ Spree 289ks. We just got ours this past April and love it. It's got quad bunks, "U" shaped dinette and a king size bed that slides out the back. It's about 28' closed and with the rear slide extended it's almost 31' long. The dinette is also a slide. Dry weight is about 5,300 lbs.

We have a quad bunk house model made by Crossroads. It is the Sunset trailer..it is a 31 footer. What I like about it most...is that it has a solid door to the bunkhouse. We needed that as our special needs dd goes to bed earlier and sometimes has a quiet time during the day. We wanted something that had the solid door and not just a slider screen.

We loved our Outback 28rsds. It was too heavy for our truck so traded it in two RVs ago. You can find a wealth of information at www.outbackers.com, a forum of Outback owners (extremely helpful and friendly bunch).

I beleieve the newer suburbans (2007and up) only have a tow capacity of 7100 with the standard 3:73 rear end, bumps up to 8100 with the 4:10 rear on the 1500 series.
