Hi Everyone!

I need the experienced full-timers to help me in a major purchase.
I recently went to camping world to look at a Class-C that fit our budget perfectly but appeared to have some separation of the outside wall... (delamination??) I didn't notice any water damage on the inside, and of course the sales person downplayed it as "cosmetic".
I'd love to believe that because I want the thing so badly...but could it really delaminate without any water damage? Is it a big deal if it just came separated from a poor gluing job?
How could I investigate this further?

Thanks for your time... enjoy the summer!

Welcome to the forum.

IMHO I would pass on this one. You will find it very difficult to re-sell it. Everyone prays their's won't do this and trust me no one wants to buy one that already has.
My first de-lam I noticed WAS because a window was leaking.

There are 'many' used RV's for sale due to the economy. Take some time to look around before just jumping in on this one.

Also the dealerships that are located with Camping World are usually higher in price for their motor homes.
Take a look around at rvtraderonline.com to get a feel what certain models are going for. And when you find one go to nada.com to see what they are worth for a comparision.

Good luck in your quest to find the perfect motor home for your camping needs!

I would take note of the model numbers, floor plan, etc., and try to find another one. Delam is considered a serious problem.

Agreed with above posts. Don't buy into a known issue. Not as good start. Down playing delamination as cosmetic is nonsense. As mention it's a pretty serious issue and most likely you'd wind up with additional hidden issues/costs down the road. Damage caused by delamination is not always apparent and visible, but I guarantee it goes below the surface.

Run away fast!! Everything on a rig is just "cosmetic" to a salesperson! Don't believe anything a salesperson says. They just want/need to make the sale, especially now.

As Joy said, take the model number and floor plan and hit the internet.

You can be as choosy and picky as you want to be now. It is a buyers market. There are far more rigs for sale than there are buyers out there.

Be patient!!

When you do find the one, make a really low offer and be ready to walk away from them. You may not get it for that, but they will be calling back with a counter offer, maybe even before you get out of sight. If they still have it after another month, give them an even lower offer to get them moving!!

Remember, you hold all of the cards now.

Good luck

There is only one way to repair a delaminated wall and that is to replace the entire wall. There are ways that some manage a temporary repair, but the problem will always return. And delamination that happens with no leak is usually a sign of an improperly constructed wall and in many ways is worse than on which was caused by a leak, now repaired.

Agree with all the above. RUN DON'T WALK TO THE NEAREST EXIT! You'll find plenty to fix/maintain without starting out with a known serious problem.

Camping World is probably the most expensive place in town to buy an RV. If you found one you really like, get the make/model/floorplan and do a little looking around and check the internet. The RV market is down with the cost of fuel these days so there are some really good buys out there.
