We will be heading to Charleston, SC from Cape Cod, MA this weekend.

We usually make our way to 81 south and then take 66 east to 17 to 95.

I was considering staying on 81 and then taking 77 south to 26 east.

My only concern was how the hills are on 77 in Virginia? I didn't know if there were some long inclines and if I should try this route or just take 66 to 95.

If you have an opinion on the better of the two routes I would appreciate your advice.

Thank you in advance.

Cooper

There's one long grade between Fancy Gap, VA and the NC line on 77. Coming from I-81, you'll be coming downhill. All easy goin' from there.

77 was a nice road. We took it north from I40 on our way back from Asheville.

Thank you very much for each of your comments.

I will certainly give Route 77 a try on this trip.

Many thanks,

Cooper
