9/1/2003 Diesel costs $1.329 per gal.
6/23/2008 Diesel costs $4.749 per gal.

In that time we have driven 59523 miles and used 6952.03 gallons of fuel. That is 8.56 MPG.

If I look at Average to get from $1.329 to $4.749 untill now, My average is $2.42 per gal.
Even if I look at the $16,793.66 the fuel cost me, that still averages only .28 cents per mile.

Real time cost per mile have went from .14 to present day .50 & .60.

NO RANT NO RAVE JUST FACTS.

I'll still keep this rig on the road.

We are not going anywhere but down the road, with some stops in between, not changing any of our plans, everything as usual.

Happy RVing

People our age, are we lucky we were able to live most of our lives when we were able to afford it?
I gotta tell you; if I was just starting out RVing right now (at the same age as when I started RVing)...............
Actually, I wouldn't/couldn't do it.
I've played hard all my life, and spent a lot of money doing it. But, I made enough to be able to save and afford what I have now (with old money). I certainly don't know how I could do it the same way today. I'm just stating fact also.

Summer of 1971: we paid 25 cents a gallon on base in So CA. We had a 1971 VW Super Beetle with $65 a mo car payments. Sunday drives to the Mall to Window Shop was all we could afford.

Would I want to turn back the clock, No Thank YOU, I like the F450 better. It doesn't chug up the mountains even pulling the 5er!

Gentlemen, Please get a grip. For you guys that make those comparisons from the 70s and 80s. What were you making an hour compared to today? I dare say you will find that the feul is cheaper now then, then.

Ok you want some facts....
I am glad for those of us that can still aford it...
But here is were it hurts......
A young person starting out just out of high school...
Parents don't have money to send this child to collage for one reason or another so they decide to get a job to pay to for there own education...
Even if they are lucky enough to get a scolarship none of them pays for everything so they still need a job.
here how it would go...
Finds a job for may be $8.00 an hour and if they are lucky gets to work 40 hours a week so his net pay per week $320.00
Of that $320.00 they will probably lose at least $100.00 to varryious taxes.
That would make their monthly take home about $880.00 sounds good so far.
The scolarship they got required them to move out of state and get their own place. So out of the $880.00 a month we need to take out $150.00 (trust me this is low) for utilities leaving $730.00 then rent may be $400.00 a month
leaving them $330.00.
Now we divide $330.00 by 4 weeks again and that gives them $82.50 a week left over.
Now say they have to fill the tank on a car...even a small car takes more than $50.00 to fill but lets say they can get buy on that.
$82.50
-$50.00
-----------
$32.50 a week for the remainder of their education costs, to eat on and save for the future

WHAT FUTURE

That is what is hurting us so much now....No one can see much a future anymore.
I don't have the answerers JUST THE FACTS
