Do NOT simply replace the 20 amp fuse with a 50 amp fuse! 20 Amps is most likely the max amperage based on the length of the wire. This site has a car audio section down the page that will give you a safe wire gauge based on length and amperage.

No, no, no, I wouldn't do that. Actually, I'm looking to replace the wire with some #4 and about 150 amp fuse or circuit breaker. I found the manual for the inverter and got some info. Thanks!

Like AlanB says, or to repeat Watts = amp times volts. Therefore, 600 watts at 120 volts, draws 5 amps. An inverter drawing 12 volts to deliver 600 watts = 600 / 12 = 50 amps.
Ain't no free lunch. A watt is a watt is a watt, regardless of the voltage.

We tried that, it takes too long. I'd rather use battery that can be recharged, than 45min. worth of LP.

45 minutes worth of propane? It takes my 2 quart tea kettle about 12 minutes to reach boiling and I have enough hot water for 10 cups of coffee. And I do believe the propane will be cheaper that gas for a gennerator to run the coffee maker or charge your batteries after the invertor draws them down.
Ans since a genny will be needed to recharge the batteries, unless you have solar, why not just run the genny to power your coffee maker?
