Trying to plan a trip to Yellowstone in mid-September and need advice on which campgrounds to stay at Madison or Mammoth Springs? We have a 35ft MH and can be self contained- just need to run our generator once in a while to keep the battery charged?

Which campground would you suggest? Site numbers and pictures would be wonderful?

We stayed at Madison this spring and loved it. No hookups, but they have a very nice dump station and place to get fresh water.
I don't remember the site number but it was in the loop right before you went down to the tent area. A buffalo came right by the campsite the first night.

How big is your rig? If I am looking at the campground map right that would be loop G? I see that road runs along the backside of the campground is there any traffic noise

Our rig is 31' Loop G is tent camping, It think it was Loop F. along the outer edge. There are a alot of the Loop F sites that are really good. The campsite is a little loop that is drive through. We went in the wrong way so our door would be on the table side.

Madison is more centrally located but not by much. Either campground would work just fine. I believe that both have the same generator policy which is basically any time other than quiet hours. As with other National Parks they have a maximum noise level of 76 Db but I've never seen it enforced. Good luck and enjoy the park

Yes, I don't remember the hours. Just not during quiet time.

I was there last year, you can run your gen anytime during non-quiet hours. Mid-Sept. is the best time, crowds are gone and IMHO it's the best time to see the park.

We stayed there just a couple of weeks ago (Madison). I was pleasantly surprised. Never had been there before and with dry camping I was expecting a lot less. Paved road all the way around and your rig will set on pavement also.
