The sky isn't falling, it's just fog I guess.
Sad news indeed.
Many folks are smart enough to not make it a joke. I know you understand the seriousness of it. I hope those folks find new work

So far I'm loving the brands that I replaced the GM cars with.....far superior quality. Oh well.....life goes on, this ain't the practice round.
Same thing happened to us with the brand new 84 Suburban that couldn't pull our 16' TT without overheating and , and , and, and,,,,and,
I have had 4 new vehicles since 1999, three were GM and one was Japanese.
I have had one fault with the GM cars, power plug not working in current 2007. The Japanese car caused me all manner of grief, finally had to argue with USA corporate to get it fixed..
I doubt the US cars are bad line is so true.

It's damn serious and apparently some don't realize that fog is "sky" close to the ground.
I can't understand how anyone can seemingly make fun of those who are struggling or worried about their "survival", economic or otherwise--or dismiss their plight solely on the basis that they were "economically irresponsible".
I was "economically responsible" all my life and now the government diluted the value of my "retirement money" to subsidize the greedy and stupid.

WW II came about as a surprise attack on the US. Back in 1941 we had our steel in PA, Autos in Detroit, and got most of our fuel from TX & PA. Today we would have to import these items. Our "Arsenal of Democracy" has disappeared to other countries. Our friends (?) in Saudi Arabia are sending us oil and then using the oil money to train terrorists. Look where the 9-11 hijackers came from. If we have an attack by Muslim extremists do you think we could import oil to help fuel our defenses? We would have to import steel and maybe everything else to build things. I wouldn't worry about GM going bankrupt, I wowuld be more concerned about the USA. With all of our money being sent overseas to pay for all our imports you should look at how much of our businesses and properties are actually owned by foreign countries. We are just renters here in our own country.
Back on the GM topic, I am not brand loyal to any of the car makers, but have recently bought a Pontiac Vibe (altho the inside is really a Toyota Matrix) and Chev Duramax and am totally happy w/ both. I suspect that the big 3 got a lot better over the years w/all the foreign cars being so much better in the 70's and 80's. They had to up their quality control. Of course, you can always get a lemon by any brand, too.
