I'm assuming you mean Honda 1000 watt generator, specifically an eu1000i. If not, disregard the post. I'm not an eu1000i owner but have participated in a number of threads on this subject. It depends a lot on the specific charger, but for most of them the eu1000i is maxed out with a 45 amp charge rate at low altitudes. Based on that, I'd speculate that you'd probably be ok up to a few thousand feet. It's not possible to be specific because you'd be operating the generator near its limits, which means to me that it wouldn't be operating 'comfortably'.

never seen a 100 watt, 600 watt was the smallest i ever saw,

a 1000 might do it at low altitudes, 40 amps 14 volts 560 watts into the battery that means the total into the converter from the generator is more,

besure you manually set your fridge and water heater to propane, because on automatic they will switch to 120 volts and that little honda is not going to power everything

Every 40 amp intelligent charger that I have seen has lower settings so if it does not pull 40 amps at 12,000 feet just move the selector to 20 amps. I assume you mean 1000 watt Honda or similar.

I don't know what your constant wattage is, but 1000 watt is only surge. Generator will lose about 40% of constant wattage at 5000 feet, and over 50% at 10,000 feet. That may not be enough for your converter. Check your unit to see what it draws.

Sorry sorry yes, I meant 1000 watts! The generator would only be used to charge the batteries, nothing else.

I just bought a cheaper 950 watt generator at canadian tire for $280. First, it took me about 50 pulls to get the thing started and I nearly passed out. Then when it was finally running, NO AC! It couldnt even power a cell phone charger! At that point I was still planning on exchanging it for another one, until I walked into the garage and it was sitting in a lake of gas, which I was cleaning up at midnight. Took it back to return it and they said its under warranty we'll fix it. You can imagine my response to that.

Now Ive learned my lesson - Im getting a Honda.

Before you make another mistake, get the 2000 Honda and you will find you did the right thing. I had the 1000 and it would not charge the batteries when they were real low and the converter called for more amps than it would put out.
The 2000 will even run the AC if it has the low draw capacitor installed.
The only drawback to the 2000 over the 1000 is the weight. It will run longer than the 1000 on a full tank of gas as well.
