Here's my 2 cents for washing in the desert. 1) try like heck to not have the sun shining on the surface you are washing (it will dry waaay too fast, 2) do a small section at a time, 3) dry with a towel or chamios, don't let it air dry, 4) any car wash will work, 5) work quickly, and 6) after you are done, look to the south and east as you have probably angered the monsoon gods and have brought on a dust storm with a small sprinking of rain to ruin your wash job!

After that comment John, if they come in today I'm coming after you. lol I just washed part of mine yesterday and those boiling clouds coming in from the NE over the mountains nearly got me.
I had a really good inexpensive RV washer the past 3 years but he got sent back to Mexico a few months ago. Dang! Now I'm back to doing it myself.

To Chuck and others that use a "Waterstick" softener/deionizer: Which model do you recommend, the standard car unit or the high capacity model?
Thanks!!

I had a yacht cleaning busines for 17 years and only used this.
Still use it to clean the MH and Jeep toad.
Now I let someone else do the cleaning but they use my
Turtle Wax Zip Car wash.

I also like the Mr Clean car wash system but got tired of paying what I thought was too much for their special soap. I now buy Mequires NXT car wash soap in two quart containers and mix it 50/50 with water and put that in the Mr Clean soap tank. It does the spot free result just like the Mr Clean soap.

The Mr. Clean system is also a de-ionizer in the cartridge. The one advantage it may have over the water stick is its' availability nationwide at stores such as K Mart and Walmart.

Rich,
I use the standard car size. I get about 6 rinses on a 40 MH per refill. I just built a spare waterstick out of parts from Lowe's for about $12.00. I now have one in the garage and one I carry on the MH.

Tarponteaser wrote: Living in Florida I know well the problems of water spots when washing vehicles. For me, the perfect solution is to use a no rinse product like "Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine". I buy it by the gallon (online) and use it follows:
1. Add 1 oz to 2 gallons of water in a bucket, soak a microfiber towel in the solution and wash a section at a time, then dry each section just washed with a dry microfiber towel. A bonus is using only 2 gals of water to wash a truck (a class A might take 2 batches, but perhaps not). Many areas are restricting vehicle washing either because of water conservation, or not wanting puddles from a wash.
2. You can also mix 1.5 oz to a quart of water to make a great 'Instant Detailer' for wiping down vehicles after getting hit with a bird bomb, or cleaning bugs off the front.
The manufacturer is Optimum Polymer Technologies, you can google it for more info.

Randy
Thanks for th tip! I just order a gallon for home and a quart to carry in the coach with some micro fiber towels and two spray bottles. This seems like the perfect solution for cleaning while on the road.
Thanks again!
