Has anyone tried towing the new Astra from Saturn? The 2008 Guide to Dinghy Towing by Motorhome magazine has an article that states that the Astra is flat towable. However, the owners manual and Saturn say that the Astra is not "designed or intended to be towed because of low ground clearance". We are confused and wonder if anyone has yet successfully towed a Saturn Astra.

Recently we purchased a 08 Saturn VUE XR as our new towcar, before we closed the deal I called the Saturn factory and asked about flat towing, they stated "all 08 Saturn models are flat towable". By the way we are very pleased with the VUE

We went to check out the Astra when first became available. We were told the the manual transmission was towable but not the automatic, because it was imported and had a different drive train. We, also, decided on the Vue and are very satisifed with our decision.

I checked the owners manual of an Astra at an auto show last weekend.
It said the Astra is NOT flat towable....at least the automatic model I was looking at.

I've read earlier, and the salesman confirmed, that the Astra is a Belgian design. I wasn't totally sure if it meant that it is built in Belgium and imported or it is built in America but is a belgian design.

I have been told by the Factory that the 2008 Saturn VUE REDLINE can not be towed behind a motorhome.
