Planning a first time trip to Ft. Wilderness (DisneyWorld). It will be Me, husband, 2 dogs in a class C, coming from Pittsburgh area in Oct. I would like to see the animal kingdom and maybe one other site. Planning to stay 3 or 4 days. This is a trial trip, if we like it we'll come back. I would love to see your pictures and read your comments and advice about such a trip!

Here are our pictures from Ft. Wilderness this past January:
Our Fort Wilderness Pictures
We had a great campsite! The campground was the best we have ever been to. Bathhouses were spotless. DH and I both came running out of the bathhouse at the same time all excited over how clean they were. We're used to state parks where they aren't always that clean. We can't wait to go back to Ft. Wilderness some day.

Visit www.allears.net for all sorts of fabu info on all things Disney. Also on the Disney Website there is a great forum called The Moms Panel and they have great info too.
October....bring your rain gear, they tend to get pop-up showers then.
Enjoy!

You'll be back alright....I've been doing the trip from Philly to FW each winter for the last 3 years(ever since we bought the RV)...we even have just stayed in the campground and didn't go into the parks, just sightseeing each hotel is fun. Campground is immaculate, be sure to go to the nightly movies when you get the chance, campfires & a sing a long there too. Really nice place. If you don't have a golf cart, rent one for at least one day to explore each loop, it's amazing to see all of the disney camper decorations.
Have fun!

Just search this forum for `fort wilderness' and read on. You could also search the results for `dog' and read those posts.

We live 28 miles from Ft. Wilderness. I think you will find that there is no other campground like it. Animal Kingdom is good but The Magic Kingdom is my Favorite. I would suggest to go to Animal Kingdom early in the morning to see the animals at their best. October is a good month to go.

Thanks to all for the info. Everyone I talk to that has been there has nothing but good things to say. I heard that someone called AAA to arrange a trip in Sept. and he got a free meal ticket for a week! I assume he's staying at one of the hotels. Well, I'm getting psyched!

We were down there when you posted this. Got back this past Monday.
We go down a couple of times a year. Love it. We'll be back the last two weeks in October with a few forum friends.
My best advice? When you get to your site, take your time backing in and make sure your unit, in its' entirety, is situated the way you like it. ie: can get your awning out, slides out, etc. You'll be there for 3 or 4 days, may as well have it the way you like it.
Enjoy!
