Gale, I am not sure what to think of you. You are the CEO of a software company, can write and express yourself well, and obviously no dummy. I do not agree with some of your "learning life's lessons from animals" outlook, but I find your responses to crtique interesting. I won't bother with my own, unsolicited critique, I know there's not much point to that.
Yes, I think I shall have to study you further . . . .

We all have different points of view, that's a fact. When we post on a forum such as this, we open ourselves up for those points of view.
What we pass on to our children can be changed and in your case Gale I hope it will be. There is no "different culture" here in the U.S., we all share the same responsibilities no matter where we live in this great country. There are however, different choices and clearly you have made some that many who post here don't agree with, unsolicited or not.
My parents weren't exactly great pet owners. When I got a little older I finally convinced them to neuter our cat as well as make him an inside kitty. Lo and behold, Tiger lived to be a ripe old age after the others I had loved only lived for a few years. It was devastating to have them not come home or worse see one of them get hit by a car! I only ever witnessed one of my cats get hit & killed, believe me that was enough! Responsible pet ownership was a lesson my parents learned from me and carried on with their pets even after I was grown. There are just too many hazards for animals left on their own, even within a few houses of our home.
Once a person feeds, buys collars, and names a so called stray they are no longer a stray. They become the responsibility of the human family. They are not somehow disposable simply because that's the way you see things in your world. It is heartbreaking to those of us who care about animal welfare and I'm sure it is to your children.....
It seems to me that the old adage holds true "Once we know better we do better". It's the willingness to learn that seems to be what is missing here.

AMEN, especially the last paragraph. That's what makes us "better" then animals. However that part of evolution has missed it's mark with Gale. I wonder if she treats her kids with a "Disposable" attitude like she does animals that are unfortunate enough to be near her.

There are many people on this forum who have many different agendas and are fanatics about their positions whether it comes to neutering or raw food diets or vaccinations. There is nothing wrong about being adamant about any position and that is what a forum is about, the exchange of ideas.
However, there are those who are so sure they are right that anybody who disagrees with them must be some sort of mental defective because they can't see the light. They will use any post to try and get their position across to the great unwashed.
Personally I believe in neutering and my dog and both cats are neutered. I donate money to a neutering program. However, I will think no less about those who may not agree with me nor will I resort to name calling and innuendo.
This started out as a humorous thread about mowing and just as so many do it was hijacked into something else.
