BTW, what exactly IS a "horse's axe"?
Oddly, if you enter the correct part of the horse's anatomy, it disappears pretty quickly. I'm glad you enjoyed the prose. I am always amazed at the current and retired Barneys and Dirty Harrys on this site who are upset and amazed that all members here aren't ready to genuflect to their power, and lick their boots as expected. There are many decent, honest, mentally balanced folks in the field, and I think I may have met at least one. That said, it is also awash with folks who are a real disasters and make it quite clear every time they open their mouths, or bang their knuckles on the keyboard. Rant over, have a nice day......OH, for the love of dog, can you really believe that a security guard, or whatever he is, would sign off with "have a nice day"? Wow, no issues there, EH?

Holy cow guys, ok lets breathe Deeeeeeeeeeep now hold it, hold it, hold it, ok let it out sloooooooowly, now doesn’t that fell better, been to anger management before.

The OSHP Officer that pulled me over was very nice and very professional but if he wanted to he could have given me a ticket and or made me unhook my TT and had it towed if he was so inclined. I have a lot of friends on our local department and they all have told me that your behavior and attitude in the first seconds when they come up to your vehicle will decide if you are going to get a brake or not.

Here is a tip that a buddy told me to do if I get stopped. First pull off to a side street or off ramp if possible (and always to the rightside of the road), put your window down; put both hands on the steering wheel and if at night turn on your dome light. If you need to open your glove box to get your paper work out wait until they come up to your vehicle and tell him/her what you are going to do. Don’t just reach over and do it, this will show them that you respect them and no this is not licking their boots or kissing their backside, it is called respect.

For the most part almost all the LEO’s I have come it contact with have been very professional but you do run into an occasional jackass now and then.

If you encounter a LEO that acts unprofessional you should contact the department they are from and file a formal complaint. Most departments nowadays have video and audio in their cars that can be used in your favor also. And yes I went to the Walbridge post and filed a complaint on an OSHP Officer once that was rued and very unprofessional and nope did not have any repercussions because of it.

Anyway bottom line here is I (DW in reality) screwed up and if I was ticketed it would have been my (DW’s) fault not the LEO that pulled me over doing his job.

Our Ohio trailer tags are due in January, along with our other cars and Suburban. Who's thinking about the camper in January? Too many western PA ski weekends to think about. We did pay for and receive the trailer tags, but they were put away in the desk, where we "wouldn't forget them".

I towed the trailer to our dealership for service the last week of April, '08, brought it home on a Friday evening, the beginning of May, and didn't even unhook it because we decided to drive up to Ohio's Amish country for the weekend. Had a great time at Evergreen RV Resort and the Amish shops and restaurants. After returning home, we found the tags, realized how lucky we had been, and immediately put them on the plates where they belong.

Soren, how about we go camping sometime? Maybe the Poconos? Close for you and not too far for me. Come on, we can sit around the campfire and discuss all of the why's and what for's of your feelings about LEO's. Heck, I'll even bring the beer, and maybe a good psycho therapist too. Please let me know when you can so I can get a couple of days off.
By the way...how much time did you do and for what? Was it in a County or State facility?

Hi

Earier this year my wife got in a fender bender with the truck, went to get the registration and found it had expired two months before!

I called the RMV they said as long as my insurance didn't lapse, there was no penality, just go to the local RMV and register it ASAP.

I also called my Insurance company and they said, my Insurance premium was paid and up to date so they'll be no issues. The agent also said that the RMV had some issues with sending out renewal issues and cancellation notices that's why they were not penalizing drivers in good standing.

Before I set out on this 2 month trip, we also had thr TV inspected so upon our return back home we wouldn't have a expired safety and emission sticker.

In PA you can renew TT tags for a five-year period. I did it just to avoid the hassle, either writing the check and mailing it or dealing with LEO. On the other hand a local organization I am involved with owns a Chevy step van. The treasurer gave me the new registration to put on and when I went to do it I discovered that last year's sticker was NEVER put on. We were driving an entire year with expired tags!! Yikes!

As soon as I get the sticker it goes in my wallet until I make it to the TT. We once were pulled over and the LEO told me my plate was expired. When I told him I forgot to put it on and showed him the sticker that was in my wallet.....he allowed me to put it on and said have a wonderful day....
I happen to see him at the gas station up the road and bought him his cup of coffee.....he would not accept so I bought another for his partner and he smiled and said thanks........
