We just got back from a trip to Sagaponack on LI,to visit friends, and it took us over an hour and a half to cross the GWB both going north and back south. Both times we tied to cross around 10:00 AM.
Trying to get around Washington ain't no picnic either.
Timing is everything. You need to get over the GWB either early am or late pm. Your next problem heading north will be the 95 91 split in New Haven hit this on a holiday or Friday after 2 or 3 in the afternoon and you will be in traffic for a good hour or so.

Just made the trip from Jax. FL to D.C., For your info, there is alot of construction on I95 in GA. It took about 5 hours to go from the FL line to SC.. Might be wise to get an early start from home,so you can get through GA, before rush hr., like 4AM!
Thanks for all the help...... For sure I will not be crossing the George Washington Bridge!!!
I am familiar with going west of DC to PA but I have not taken the Chesapeake bridge tunnel route. Might try that for a change in the scenery.....
I don't like being stuck in stop and go traffic and bouncing over potholes. I have places to go and I want a smooth ride (well as smooth as you can find) getting there. The Monaco is NOT "Trail Rated"....
I got tired of all the tolls, I take the Rt. that MH4Two gave you it's great No Tolls. Pickup 17 off of I-95 in Fredricksbrg. Some one mentioned tunels in MD. I heard it was a $2000. fine two go thrugh them with a MH.

What we have found is they leave their home in upstate Vermont south to I-95 to I-287 and across the Tappanzee Bridge to continue on I-287 south into NJ; then I-78 west to Allentown where we join them and then head I-78 west to I-81 south to I-66 east in Virginia; after a short stint on I-66 to Route 17 south until it joins I-95 south of Washington DC.
What we have found is that it adds about 15 miles to our trip, the time traveled has stayed the same. We completely avoid Washington, Baltimore, the tunnels, tolls, Philly, tolls in NJ, NYC and it remains a pleasant trip. Our friends with their 45' have had no problems with this route.
This is pretty much the route we take when we go from SE Florida to Maine. I would not be happy to take the MoHo and Toad all the way up I-95.

Last July we came from PA...
I took NY 17 (I 86) to I 84 to I 695 to I 91 to CT 9...took CT 9 all the way to I 95...it was a piece of cake, no traffic...easy ride.
Only thing I remember is there were a few overpasses on CT 9 that were at 13' 6"...no problem for my MH.
Stayed at Ace's High in East Lyme, CT....it was a wonderful trip and CG.... here is a nice video
If you like taking I 81 North....you can get on NY 17 (I 86) in Binghamton, NY.....the last Flying J on I 81 is about 20 miles south in New Milford, PA.....last chance for Diesel below $5...after that it's much higher in NY and CT.
