I think it'd be impossible to say which state or region is necessarily 'best' or better than anywhere else, as far as camping destinations go. Too many variables involved.
People travel/camp for different reasons, some prefer longer trips, others prefer shorter. Some prefer boondocking or rustic state parks, others prefer resort style CGs with lots of amenities. Some like a little of both. We could go on and on with that.
Each one of us I'm sure, can throw up several reasons why we think where we live is best (like Supercharged 'tried' to do with this thread). And, it may well be true for the camping that individual wants to do. But, you just cannot say one particular area is all-around best, 'cause like I said, there's just too many variables in the way people camp, and the reasons they do.
..With gas being as expensive it is, I'd think the best place to be as far as camping goes, would be one that has lots of cool places to go for camping that one likes, that are not very far away. That could be west coast, east coast, or anywhere in between.
Personally, I can think of many, MANY different areas of the country I'd be happy living in, all that would offer lots of great places to camp.
(That being the case, Supercharged...please find something else to 'troll' over..hahahaha!)
I understand how you might feel about me and call me a troll, if I had gone out and bought a great big Ford V-10 that has 310 Hp and 425 torque and gets 11 mpg, and than find out Supercharger man has a little 5.3 that puts out 395 hp. and 425 torque also, goes 0-60 in the 5's yet gets well over 20 mpg everyday, and gets better mileage towing a 5th wheel than a V-10 get empty, I would try to make him look bad to.
2005 Chev 5.3 Supercharged 395HP 425 T hp. Two wheels on front, 2 on back. one seat, tint windows. front and rear bumpers, headlights, windows. Door on each side. Heater, floor mats, junk behind seats, some dirt. Pulls so hard.
Supercharged, you are clearly a troll. You are either lying through your teeth, or trolling for kicks.

I don't have to do ANYTHING, to make you look bad. You do that all by yourself on a daily basis, with every nonsensical post you throw up.
I think its absolutely amazing the moderators have let you stay as long as you have, when every single thread you start serves absolutely zero constructive purpose whatsoever, except to try and make people mad.
And if you REALLY believe that nonsensical BS about comparing a V10 to your souped up small block....ROTFLMAO!!!! Thats 'bout all I'll say. Such statements are so ludicrous, they don't even deserve a response.
Like I said, supercharged, find some other subject to troll on.

Back in the midwest in the winter at 0 temp I would set in the first seat of the school bus behind the driver, but in high school they got a bus like yours and I would get in the back seat because then they had two heaters in them,it was so warm on those cold morning.

and another thrown in for good measure...
The current active Volcano is in Washington, not Oregon. Most of the population lives upwind of any of the potential volcanoes.
California gets the earthquakes. The last big one was in the 1600's and there have been two that can be felt as long as I can remember... and they both were of the type that can barely be felt.

Right about now, I would say the midwest would be the best place to own a BOAT. I feel bad for all those people dealing with the floods.
Have you seen the pictures from Iowa, etc., of the people
looting the liquor stores, carrying away televisions from
retail stores, sitting on the roof begging for someone to
take care of them; collected in the football stadium
complaining about the food and shelter being provided?
Neither have I.
No busses sitting in the floodwater instead of being used to get out either;
