Over 35,000 miles we got 7.25 MPG on a 35' Adventurer with the Ford. On our 38' Suncruiser we get 6.8 MPG with the Workhorse.

If coaches of the same weight are compared, the Chevy is typically slightly more fuel efficient. However, weight difference can really upset the balance. For instance, Ed's Adventure probably had a GVWR of 20,500 pounds. The Suncruiser would be on either a 22,000 pound or the 24,000 chassis.

I have the 6.8L (ford F53 chasis). On a recent trip, pulling my 4 door jeep (4100#) and running the generator for the coach air on a over 1700 mile trip I averaged about 7.1 mpg.

I doubt there's a measurable difference if you could do an actual comparison where all the other variables were the exact same.

We had a 2000 Triple E 20,500 lb GVWR with 6.8 V10 and we now have an 8.1 in a Class C that has a 19,500 GVWR. We never towed with the 6.8 and regularly got a bit over 9 MPG. Not towing with the 8.1 our best has been 7.9. Towing a Tahoe with the 8.1 we get 7.4. In our view the Ford uses LESS fuel than the 8.1.
