Our trailer has a 30 amp service. Is it ok to plug in at a 50 amp site with an adapter?

It will work fine with the adaptor. You'll probably find that the 50 amp site also has 30 amp connections making the adaptor unnecessary.

I have never seen a 50amp only site, usually they have a 30amp beside the 50.

You will probably find there is also a 30 and a 15 amp connector there. Never saw a 50 amp only.

Nevertheless, the answer is that with the proper adapter it will work just fine. I do it at home routinely.

Consider voltage similar to water pressure and amperage the size of the pipe. As long as your needs are met by the pressure (120 volts) and the size of the pipe you need is smaller than what is shown (at or lower than 50 amps), you're good to go -- with the right connector.

We stayed at a CG about 3 weeks ago and the only site they had left was 50 amp only. We were in our C and had to use the adapter. EBRV spend the 25 bucks and buy a dogbone adapter to have just in case you do run into a 50 Amp only.

The big up-side of using such an adapter is that 50A connections seldom have any voltage problems, while they are very common for 30A sites. There are several reasons but the main ones are that 50A connections tend to be much newer and the wire size if much larger.
