We usually go to the beach at N Myrtle every summer but this year the money and time is tight. We are looking into campgrounds near Virginia beach. Found one that sounds really nice - Holiday Trav-L- Park but it looks like no openings. Any suggestions/feedback on camping near there?
Thanks

The KOA on General Booth Blvd is pretty good. We just left there. There is another campground on Gen. Booth blvd as well but I don't recall the name. Maybe it's the one you mentioned. It looked pretty good as well. I think they were around the 55$ per night range.

Cheers.

Campgrounds around va bch is fairly limited. There is one in the creeds section of the bch but thats about 12 miles out, North Landing Campground. KOA and Holiday park are close to the ocean front but are prob. limited due to summer time. There is at least one on the way to sandbridge but sorry, don't know name of it, might be north bay rv prk. Go to supper yellow pages on the net and look up campgrounds in va bch area.

First landing is a state park on the ocean/bay that i think you can camp. Stay away from the mobile "camping" as they have an abundance of mobile homes, also stay away from sandy point camp ground as this is more residential than RV parks.

Look at First Landing State Park. I should have gone there last year, instead I was at some place near the Dismal Swamp. Looked OK, but the sign warning of the Yellow Flies didn't quite convey the real meaning.

Do not go to the Va Beach KOA. Price is high! We had a poor site for a high price. Roads are in terrible shape. Help was indifferent. They gave us a comment card when we were there last Nov. Sent it in, but we never heard from them, guess this was because the card was too negative. Not your normal/good/reasonable KOA.

That other campground on the same road across/north from the KOA was about half the price of the KOA and looked better.

I have never stayed at the KOA, but it is across Gen Booth from the Holiday Travel Park. We haven't stayed there either but have had some friends that have stayed there and they enjoyed it. The place is HUGE. As for www.northlandingbeach.com it is a nice place but is further south than the other two. Not too far though. We have been down a couple of times, for shake down trips since it is not all that far from the house, but if we discovered an issue we were close enough that the house is a great place to get the tool needed.

We may head down in the near future since we are looking at a new TT next weekend.

Heck you will all but pass the house going to anyone of those three.

yeah Holiday is the best I think. We rode through koa and I would never choose to stay there. We did drive to north landing beach and it is far away (like 20 miles I think) or so.. It was a small place, but had a lake or river or something on the side, so seemed nice.

have been going to the Holiday park for years. If you have a large rig try to get the super sites. More money but werth it. It depends on when you are going. The last 2 weeks in July is usually booked 1 year in advance due to it is a major holiday period for Quebec, Canada. Call on the 800 number and ask for Phil the owner if he is there. If you are willing to move sites they will work with you, They are really good people
