What type do you have? What type chemicals do you use? And do you empty it in the bathroom or dump station? I have decided that I must have one and need some input from someone who has one. My DH won't help me make this decision because he doesn't think we need one. So I am on my own on this one. So please help me. I can't decide if the hassock style would work or do I want one that has a holding tank.

I had a holding tank type and found it convientent to dump in the restroom. I gave it to my son and he dumped it in the outhouse. Good luck

I have a Passport potty from my tent camping days - could use it 2-3 days before needing to empty - under $50 at Wal-mart, and has been used numerous times during power failures.

My PUP has the residential style china bowl toilet, and a 9 gal. holding tank, and is so much better than the middle-of-the-night toe stubbing trek to a buggy bathhouse.

I looked at the Passport potty. They are now close to $70.00. Did yours have a pour shout to make it easy to empty? Online they say that it does have one but on the package it doesn't say that.

The Thetford Electric Porta Potty is THE ONE to buy . . . IMHO. The Thetfords have a built-in pour spout to empty the tank with (some other brands don't!) and the electric (battery powered really) flush is fantastic! The electric model is also residential height. We used one with our old Coleman based on a couple of recommendations and loved it! Easy to use, easy to empty, etc. In fact I liked is more than I like my built-in cassette potty in my newer Westlake!

We have a Thetford potty as well. About $120 (we got the tall one so you don't have to squat down so much). We use it for emergencies and late night uses for the most part. No #2 unless you want to be the one to dump it! DW uses it more then I do.

It has a spout to empty. We simply empty it in the sewer connection on site (if we have one) or at the dump station. Or even bring it home and just dump it in the potty at home.

It's a must have in my mind and well worth the bucks.

I have a sears porta-potty many years old.

But like others have said better than getting dressed
and heading to camp toilet

I don't know how old your husband is but tell him from me
there will come a time when he will be thankful for Porta-potty.

I have seen signs in some campgrounds that prohibit restroom dumping
of porta-potties.

I'm sure you can see why.

I didn't want one in our pop up for years, but after renting a motorhome once, decided it was great for those middle of the night gotta-go's. We got a SeaLand one just because that was what Academy Sports had. Love it. I just use a small amount of the blue stuff, any brand will do. There is no smell. Just got it for the night time, so it doesn't have to be emptied that often during a trip. Don't know why I waited so long to get one.

Some campgrounds prohibit dumping porta pottys because of the Formaldahyde in some of the toilet chemical treatments. There are lots of formaldahyde free treatments available.
