anyone have experience with this? I have a chance to buy one in my price range but I would be trading space for fuel economy. I read the last post and I'm sorry people are tired of asking this ?. But for some of us, we CAN'T travel at all unless we get better fuel economy. I read some good things about the chevy 350 and bad about the 360...what is your experience with the Chevy 350? thank you
ps. it is the 350 overdrive 1996

We once owned a 1990 Winnebago 23' with the Chev 350. Mileage was always in the 9-10.5 mpg range. It was never any better that what we got with either of the E350 V10s that we have owned since then.
The Chev in our '90 had the 3 speed transmission. If you find a 350 with the overdrive trans you might do a bit better than that. OR if you never drive faster than 45 mph you probably would get 11-12 mpg.
my 24ft ford with 460 gets 8 in the hills/mountains and 10 + on flat roads dueing 55 to 60,tried a 350 befor not a lot of power with the one i tried in the hills but price of gas wasnt like it is today dont know what the mileage was on that one.

The 350 is a good engine but unless you stay around 55 mph and drive very conservative mileage will not be good. Most RVs usually top out at 9 to 12 mpg. If that is unacceptable then don't get one.
If its a 95 or older it will have TB Injection, rather than Tuned port which gives better mileage, but it will never be great on either the Chevy 350 or Dodge 360, there both old designed engines, back in the 50s and 60s.
Its my opinion, that mileage depends more on the weight your moving, the speed at which your moving it, and its wind resistance, more than the engine.
Sometimes I think your better off with a big engine and not working it hard, rather than a smaller engine that works hard.

Its like the earlier post ,it depends how you drive. I have a 1984, 24 foot Sundancer, 350 motor, turbo 400 with a OD, 410 rear end.I have no problem pulling Mount Hood going east.I have 60 thousand miles on the motor, I get 12 MPG going up and down hills I,m happy with that.
One very important thing a lot of people for get check your tire pressure, this makes so much of a differance.
This winter I well be stepping to a Goodwrench 383 ci crate motor.
I have read nothing but how good they work in a RV.
