We just returned from a weekend camping trip to Rocks Pond Campground in Eutawville, SC. We decided to attempt to use the campground bath-house facilities after a long day on the lake in order to get our entire group clean the fastest way possible. I have never in many years of camping encountered a nastier bath-house situation. There were 4 bath houses spread throughout the campground. One was boarded shut with 2x4's bolted across the doors. The second was blocked off with yellow caution tape and closed signs spread all over the entrances. The third was partially boarded up with a couple of outside entrances still open. Inside was the most incredibley disgusting bathroom that you can imagine. Concrete walls and floors with rotting plywood doors, no lights, no paper, no soap, overflowing clogged toilets, holes in the wall to the outside, large numbers of dead insects, black mold growing up filthy walls, brown stained walls and fixtures. There were even signs about helping control the insect problem by closing the doors. You got to be kidding!! I could not believe this was possible. I wouldn't go near this place. I then went to the other side of the campground to view the other open bathouse. It was only marginally better. This one was obviously newer ( about 1960's) than the other and had tile and industrial type toilets. It was filthy with no soap, overflowing toilets, and mold and mildew issues. I promptly returned to my camper to shower and use the facilities. I have never been so thankful for my travel trailer in all of my life. I felt so sorry for the few tent campers that we saw in the campground. This should not even be allowed. They were charging high prices for the campground, groceries, gas, ect... You would think that the facilities should reflect this expense.

I just looked it up. It is not a state park. It is a private rural park with good and bad reviews on rv park reviews.

Yuck, I feel lucky for never having been to a place that bad. Just curious: How did the owners respond to your concerns/complaint?

Like many of the reviewers on RVParkReviews, who left just a "?" for bathhouse rating, I would never even know if this happened at a campground I stayed at. I always use the onboard facilities! But that's why it's especially important for your views to get recorded there.
