We've gotten fairly comfortable camping in Ohio's State Parks. We're new at this trailering thing and have been using our four trips to various State Parks as our "learning experiences". We have reservations to visit three more parks as the summer wears on. Then at summer's end, we plan to visit historic Virginia. I'm having a difficult time planning the trip and finding campgrounds along the way. We would like to spend, perhaps, a couple of nights in a row visiting the historic sites in the area as we travel. We will spend several days in the Charlottesville, VA area (once we arrive) and then move on toward the coast. I think I would like to go to Charlottesville (from Lancaster, OH area) via Washington, PA; south to West Virginia; east through Maryland and then south to Charlottesville, VA. Any suggestions as to route, campgrounds and sites??? When I posted this on another FORUM, the immediate response was south through W. Virginia and across the mountains on a two lane highway (speed limits 25-35 m.p.h in most cases). That, I am NOT interested in. I'm not looking for switchbacks, floating bridges, and hairpin turns...any suggestions would be most appreciated as we prepare to set off on our first major trip. Thank you very, very much.

Get a copy of Mountain Directory East, the companion to M D West at www.mountaindirectory.com
It will tell you what roads are steep and curvy so you can choose your route wisely.
Try using Yahoo/Maps where you can modify their route if you don't like it by `clicking and dragging'.
